In this boxing summer camp your child will learn basic boxing techniques in a fun environment, while gaining awards which acknowledge their progression and achievements. The awards consist of three levels; Preliminary, Standard and Bronze for those new to boxing or Silver, Gold and Platinum for those with a little more experience. Each award includes a training booklet, a certificate and a medal. By the end of the week every child will return with three awards packages. The boxing programme will be supplemented with essential knowledge and skills in areas such as diet and nutrition, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, basic first aid, citizenship, teamwork and leadership skills. Participants will also benefit from talks by guest speakers. What does it cost? £110 for the week. A discount is available for multi-child families where £80 will be charged for each additional child. Payments can be made in cash or cheque made payable to ‘Poseidon ABC’. A £50 deposit is required to secure a place. Numbers are limited so book early to avoid disappointment. What’s Included? Coaching and supervision by fully insured, DBS cleared, England Boxing accredited coaches, drinks and healthy snacks, use of boxing equipment, award certificates, booklets and medals and a goody bag containing camp t-shirt, water bottle and wristband. The cost also includes a morning at Fairthorne Manor where children will enjoy adventurous activities such as climbing, kayaking and tree house building. Lucy O’Connor - Lucy is a former European Champion and five times ABA National Champion. She turned to coaching upon retirement from Boxing in 2012 and is the Chairman and co-founder of Poseidon Terry O’Connor - Terry is a former professional heavyweight boxer turned international referee. He has officiated all of the greats in boxing including Sugar Ray Leonard, Ricky Hatton, Prince Naseem Hamed and Amir Khan. Terry is also a member of the magic circle. Dave Bebbington-Dave is Poseidon’s elite performance coach. He specialises in coaching, mentoring, leadership and teamwork development. Dave has designed a bespoke, fun teamwork development package for this summer camp for participants to enjoy. Sean Anderson - Sean is Poseidon’s Strength and Conditioning coach. Sean has put together a package of fitness and conditioning for this summer camp which is specifically orientated towards this age group which provides a fun and engaging element to the week. What must I provide? Participants should wear comfortable sports clothing, bring a change of clothes and a packed lunch each day. What are the timings? 8.30am - 4pm daily. It is requested that participants are dropped off no later than 8.45am and picked up no later than 4.15pm. There is ample parking for drop off and collection Where is Poseidon located? Poseidon gym is based on the first floor of the Colin Ingleby-MacKenzie or East Stand at The Ageas Bowl. The East stand is at the far end of the complex, opposite the former golf club car park.
