# 101 Art Nuevo Horse Teacher: Pam Redhawk-Prueitt Time 9:00 to 4:00 Cost $55.00 All Levels
In this class you will learn different techniques in wood burning, using
Gourd Master Dyes and how to blend them. You will learn to carve
the background with your carver or Dremel.
Teacher will provide: a cleaned and ready gourd, dyes, paint and
brushed, patterns and handouts and acrylic spray.
Students need to bring: your wood burner with a blade tip and a
shading tip (6A or a ball shader). Carver with a 191 or 192 ball bit.
A dust mask and gloves.

#102 Morning Glories: You will learn how to create beautiful
textures by wood burning, carving, Beaded inlay, applying ink dyes
and Transparent Acrylics.
Need to bring: A BOTTLENECK GOURD, APPROX 25”CIRCUMFERENCE, CLEANED.
#102.1 Wild Mustang: In this class you will woodburn and some
light shading with a 6a tip and a blade tip, 191 dremel burr for inlayed
beads and ink dyes
Need to bring: A BOTTLENECK GOURD, APPROX 25”CIRCUMFERENCE, CLEANED.
Opening will be cut after wood burning. Bring your wood burner,
carver with a 191 or 192 ball bit. Also if you have the 194 cylinder
shaped high speed cutter bit by dremel. You can use the instructors if
you don’t have one. Bring a good dust mask.
Teacher will provide the rest you will need for class.
# 103 Sampler Basket Teacher: Toni Best Time 9:00 to 4:00 Cost $75.00 All Levels
In this class Students will learn to coil Pine Needles on a gourd utilizing
5 different stitches to create a beautiful pattern.
Teacher will supply: your gourd completely prepared for the class, pine
needles, waxed linen, sinew, raffia and all tools needed. The pictured
gourd is dyed but we will not be putting an outside finish on them.
Teacher will let you choose how to embellish your beautiful stitching.
# 104 Sand Painting Teacher: Dianne Calderwood Time 9:00 to 4:00 Cost $65.00 All Levels
Sand painting has always been a fond childhood memory of mine. In this
class you will learn how to apply it to gourds. With a small canteen gourd on
its side as our canvass, we will use wood burning, acrylic paint and a rainbow
of sand colors to complete the project. A selection of patterns are available to
choose from or bring your own design.
Students need to bring: a wood burner with a standard line drawing pen, a
large Old bath size towel, a variety of brushes including fine line brushes,
magnifying glasses if you have any. Optional: Your own designs limited to
5”x5”.

Create this striking butterfly design against a carved background. Discover
the secrets to artistic design layout, how to save time and easily transfer your
design to your gourd using stick n burn, techniques for drawing and shading
with your wood burner, how to get brilliant, blended colors with ink dyes and
how to make your art literally pop out with a simple stipple technique. Learn
the secrets to minimizing and natural flaws in your gourd and how to create a
lasting finish to preserve your artwork. Most will complete project in class.
Students need to bring: a dremel with a 191 or 192 round ball cutter, a round
or cone shaped structured tooth carbide bur. Optional: a Dremel 109 or
similar engraving bur. An adjustable heat woodburner with a skew tip.

# 106 Beyond the tide pools: Teacher: Vickie Echols Time 9:00 to 4:00 Cost $75.00 Skill Level *see

Students will learn to coil pine needles onto a prepared sea shell.
You will also learn how to add beads into the coil to make an irregular
shape round. After the bead work is done we will add a new coil to
create a “lip” on the lid to allow it to fit snuggly into your gourd
basket.
Teacher will provide: prepared sea shell, glycerinated pine needles,
waxed linen, small porcelain beads and stitching needles.
Students need to bring: Sharp scissors, needle nose pliers, & fine tip
wire cutters.
* Some pine needle weaving experience is recommended for this class.
Most students will be able to complete the project in the allotted time.
# 107 Flower Power Teacher: Suzi Nonn Time 9:30 to 4:00 Cost $60.00 All Levels
Using a gourd bowl cleaned and prepped by the teacher, you will
design a cutout flower bowl. First you will draw the flower design
around the gourd. Using a mini saw you will cut out the spaces
around the flowers. Wood burning the outlines of the flowers,
adding details to the pedals, and burning or drilling flower seeds in
the center of each flower will really make your flowers pop out. To
add some dimension, you have the option of sewing seed beads to
the center of the flowers.
Students need to bring: a mini jig/gourd saw with extra blades,
wood burner with a ball and a like drawing tip, hair dryer or heat
gun and a drill with a 5/64” drill bit.
# 108 Alcohol Ink finishes with suede/wire rim treatment Teacher: Sue Brogdon
Time 9:30 to 4:00 Cost $70.00 All Levels
The Adirondack alcohol inks are available in 48 colors and when
mixed, blended or washed together create s plethora of interesting
colors. Instructor will demonstrate multiple ways to utilize these
bold colors-dripping outlining, stamping, painting, blended and used
in combination with other products. Students will then select the
technique and the colors to create their own gourd. Suede will be
lashed onto the rim of the gourd with metallic wire. Beads and
other embellishments will be available to complete this unique
vessel. Instructor will also share experiences dying suede to achieve
custom colors.
Students need to bring: rubber or latex gloves, a bottle of
denatured alcohol, scissors and small wire cutters. The teacher will
provide the rest.

# 201 Cup Runneth Over Teacher: Toni Best Time 9:00 to 4:00 Cost $75.00 All Levels
Students will coil pine needles on a gourd utilizing floating coils to make it
appear that the pine needles are overflowing the gourd.
Teacher will supply: a completely prepared gourd, pine needles, waxed linen,
weaving needles, clamps, needle nose pliers and scissors.
# 202 Horse Gourd Teacher: Pamela Redhawk-Prueitt Time 9:00 to 4:00 Cost 55.00 All Levels
In this class you will learn different techniques in wood burning, shading,
layering the lights and darks to create a realistic picture. You will learn the
sponge technique with copper acrylic paint and dyes to create a beautiful
background. To finish your gourd you will be stitching on horse hair to
rim of your gourd.
Students need to bring: a wood burner with a blade tip and a shading tip
(6A or a ball shader). Carver with a small drill bit, a mask and gloves.
# 203 Stained Glass Box Teacher: Carrie Lynn Time 9:00 to 4:00 Cost $55.00 All Levels
In this class you will have so many fun techniques to work on and you will
walk away with a finished gourd box to show off to friends. You will learn
wood burning techniques, how to apply ink dyes in small areas, how to
apply variegated gold leaf to add richness to your gourd piece and how to
assemble your gourd into a beautiful box.
Students need to bring: a heat gun. A carver with a 191 ball bur.
A wood burner with your favorite blade tip.
Teacher will provide: a craft ready gourd, ink dyes, gold leaf and glue.
A hinge for your box, a pattern with written instructions.

Mermaid Gourdoll is a new doll in my Gourdoll family.
She is a colorful beauty made from several types of gourds and gourd
pieces. In this class we will primarily be working on sculpting and
assembling our mermaid. We will discuss painting techniques & doll hair
and embellishments.

Students need to bring: a carver with any sanding drums and burs you
have. Two pair of vinyl or latex gloves, Large old bath towel, any
embellishments you might want to add-( a charm for the hair), glue gun and
glue sticks, Face mask and eye protection.

# 205 Wood burned Bud Vase Teacher: Arline Erickson Time 9:00 to 4:00 Cost $65.00 All Levels

Using the new wood burning technique of Wood Burned Filigree, students
will create a bud vase and pedestal. Using patterns, students will wood
burn flowers onto their gourds and wood burn the background.
Then with acrylic paint, they will paint their flowers.
Balance of the gourd pedestal will be ink dyed and then stones will be
glued onto the pedestal.
Students need to bring: A wood burner with a FPG. 17 Gourd Cutter pen
or the Detail Master 20-A gourd cutter or the equivalent. An apron, mask
or ventilator ,awl, heat tool or hair dryer, goggles, a spray bottle and
gloves.
# 206 Hand Chipped Vertical Vase Teacher: Susan Nonn Time *9:00 to Noon Cost $50.00 All Levels
In this class you will create a vertical vase enhanced with
traditional hand gouging. Your Teacher will provide four
different patterns, from two-tone spirals to an all-over
chipped gourd. You will insert 1” mushrooms in the
center of your design. After dying and sealing the gourd,
you will drill and insert a glass vase, and mount onto a
wooden base. If you have any questions please contact

Students need to bring: a carving Gouge
(My favorite is a ¼ inch #9 sweep) and a protective glove.

#207 Smash a Gourd Teacher: Susan Nonn Time*1:00 to 4:00 Cost $45.00 All Levels
Love the look of random weaving but can’t control the shape? This
class will use a defective gourd (it happens sometimes) as a mold to
control the shape of the basket. After creating a firm structure, you
will smash the gourd and remove the pieces. You can continue
weaving to create a tight basket, or leave with airy shaped gourd
basket. There will be a variety of spaced-dyed reed to choose from.
For an additional $8.00 you can convert you basket into a pendant
light.
Students need to bring: A Defective Gourd, a bucket to soak your
reed, a sponge and towel and a roll of painters tape.

#208 Cattails and Dragonfly Teacher: Olive Moore Time 9:00 to 4:00 Cost $60.00 All Levels
If you enjoy power carving, this is the class for you. Students will cut
away most of the face of this gourd except for the cattail reeds and
dragonfly so the landscape scene on the inside back of the gourd is
visible through the opening. Filigree wings will be added to the
dragonfly and clay used to enhance the cattail to give even more
dimensions as well as the dragonfly's body and tail.
Students need to bring: A carver with assorted burs, including a bur
suitable for filigree, sanding drum for carver, gourd saw, power gourd
sander, wood burner with blade tip, heat tool, dust mask, Variety of
brushes, sanding sticks and rifflers, pencil, scissors and an awl.
# 209 Bear Grass Free Form Teacher: Sue Brogdon Time 9:00 to 4:00 Cost $70.00 All Levels
The foliage from the bear grass, a native southwestern plant, is quite
lovely when used as a weaving material. Each leaf blade is over three
feet in length. So unlike pine needles you will not need to add fiber to
your gage as frequently. Teacher will share some principals for
creating asymmetrical designs. Water-based inks that complement the
beige-colored fiber will be utilized to color the body of the gourd.
Instructor will discuss where to find bear grass in the wild, when to
collect and how to prepare bear grass for use. Teacher will focus
discussion on beginning the coiling work, adding the fiber as needed,
shading the loops, and ending the coiling. Small beads will be used to
conceal the drill hills. Teacher will also demonstrate how to line a
gourd with handmade paper. Student supply list will be sent with class
confirmation.

# 301Chick-a-Dee in Spring Teacher: Pamela Redhawk-Prueitt Time 9:00 to 4:00 Cost $55.00 All Levels
In this class you will learn different techniques in wood burning,
using Gourd Master Dyes and how to blend them to create these
beautiful flowers. You will finish the bird with acrylic paints and
top it off with pine needles. This one is a colorful one.
Students need to bring: a wood burner with a blade tip and a
shading tip. (A6 or a ball shader), carver with a drill bit to make
small holes for the top. A mask and gloves.
You will finish your gourd in class!
# 302 Wood burned Rose Portrait Teacher: Carrie Dearing Time *9:00 to 12:30 Cost $45.00 All Levels

It's time to get serious about wood burning! I mean, refining your
shading, working on a nice transition from lights to darks, finishing with
smooth lines and creating depth and texture with your wood burner.
This will be a peaceful relaxing class as we work on the small details of
your wood burning techniques that will make all the difference in the
world! Beginners are welcome, you will be amazed at what you walk
away with.
Students will need to bring: Your 6A pen or Ball point wood burner
pen along with your wood burner.
Please bring gourd of your choice/cleaned with a smooth working
area of 5x7 (the portrait is approx. 5x7)

# 303 Fancy Copper Rosette Teacher: Rosario Wilke Time 9:00 to 4:00 Cost 65.00 All Levels
Using a bottle or tall body gourd, students will learn step by step how to create
this beautiful vessel. They will design and execute a three dimensional carving
technique, creating a delicate and elegant rosette. They will also work on
stippling, the use of patinas, and Gourd Master acrylic paints with translucent
metallic powders to give the vessel an ancient and metallic look. Finishing up,
they will learn to inlay copper wire to accentuate the curvature and detail of the
rosette, giving this wonderful piece of art work a rich and elegant finish.
Everyone will be able to finish the rosette carving, painting and some of the
copper wire inlay, but due to different skill levels some will finish in class and
some will not. They will be provided with instruction to be able to finish at
home.
Students need to bring: A complete supply will be sent with your confirmation.
# 304 Gourd Sun Teacher: Dianne Calderwood Time 9:00 to 4:00 Cost $65.00 All Levels

This unique wall hanging is actually a gourd- just flattened out! In
this class you will learn how to "map out” a whole gourd or use scrap
to create a variety of one-of-a-kind sun characters. Discussion and
demos will include use of tools, distress carving, molding faces as
well as painting and finishing techniques.
Students need to bring: rotary carver with asst. burs, two pair latex
gloves, 1-pkg. of "Kwick Wood" wood repair epoxy putty. Can be
found @
(Home Depot or Lowes), eye protection, dust mask, sharp scissors,
one large old bath towel, any beads or embellishments you would like
to add. Sample has wood and glass beads on gold I pins.
Some carving experience is helpful for this class.
# 305 Totally Inspired Teacher: Mary Gehley Time 9:00 to 4:00 Cost $70.00 All Levels
Experience a new twist on tangles. Discover how combining
simple repetitive lines and basic shadowing techniques can create
shapes, patterns and textures. Each student will receive their own
individual inspiration piece to inlay into their gourd, and then use
the piece as a springboard for pattern and color ideas. Mary will
guide you through the creative process including artistic layout,
inlay techniques, wood burning lines and shading, inlay techniques,
Wood burning lines and shading, and various coloring methods
Each finished piece will be beautifully unique to the artist.
Students need to bring: wood burner with a skew tip a ball tip or
other shading tip. A carver (no cordless please) with a 191 or 192
ball bur. A structured tooth carbide bur - round or cone cylinder
high speed bur. Dust mask, safety glasses, heat gun, your favorite
brushes, Optional: sketchbook for practicing your designs. If you

# 306 Fancy Raffia with Beads Teacher: Vickie Echols Time 9:00 to 4:00 Cost $75.00 All Levels
Students will learn how to coil pine needles onto a prepared gourd
using natural raffia to create a functional gourd basket. You will
learn to do a Fern Stitch and then offset it on the next row to
produce an interesting pattern. You will be working on a wavy cut
gourd so techniques will be emphasized on how to keep your
weaving firmly secured to the ground. Fancy beads will be added
in the Valley" and the basket is finished off with a gentle wavy rim.
Students need to bring: sharp scissors, needle nose pliers and fine
tip wire cutters.
# 307 Wire wrapped Agate Rim Teacher: Sue Brogden Time 9:00 to 4:00 Cost $70.00 All Levels
In this workshop you will learn how to wire wrap agates so that they can be
attached to a gourd as a rim embellishment. Water-based and alcohol inks will
be used to color the surface of the ink and will compliment the Brazilian agate.
Using natural or dyed pygmy date palm, you will lash the palm with wire.
Beads or seeds will be added last to conceal the drill holes.
Students need to bring: latex or plastic gloves, heat tool, scissors, wire cutter,
flat-nosed pliers (Very important), old towel, a bucket, painters tape, magic
marker, and a power strip if you have one.
#308 What A Hoot Teacher: Olive Moore Time 9:00 to 4:00 Cost $60.00 All Levels
Perched on a tree branch this 3-D owl will look smart as an eye catching
accent piece anywhere in the home. Students will make this little guy come
alive by relief power carving and give him even more dimension using
epoxy clay. They will also learn how to make their own flexible molds for

Students need to bring: Rotary carving tool, Carbide Kutzall taper burr,
carbide flame burr, medium ball burr, sanding drum, selection of medium
and small paint brushes, a heat tool and a dust mask.

#401 Small Kachina Doll Teacher: Rosario Wilke Time 9:00 to 1:00 Cost $60.00 All Levels
This is a fun class, all you have to do is paint the body, face and start weaving.
All the prep work will be done for you, but also you will learn the engineering
and construction of this beautiful three-dimensional contemporary miniature
queen kachina doll (9-10"). You will learn gourd sizing, proportion, and color.
Among other tips you will learn the simple process of dying reed, how to fix the
color and avoid bleeding and fading. Using reed and glass copper colored beads
you will execute two different weaving techniques to create a beautiful rainbow
head dressing. You will weave a collar around the neck embellishing the
sculpture with a turquoise necklace and a combination of a copper shard and a
turquoise bead at the end of the collar. The last step is to mount your piece on a
stand. Students need to bring: an old towel, gloves, heat tool, scissors, black
sharpie, "Gorilla super glue" favorite paints and a small bucket or zip lock bag.

# 402 Simple Rim & Beads Gourd Bowl Teacher: Vickie Echols Time*9:00 to 12:30 Cost:
$60.00 All Levels
Students will learn to coil pine needles onto a prepared gourd. We
will also learn how to add beads into the coil and how to evenly
space them to create a gentle rolling row of pine needles. This is
the perfect project for a beginner or as a follow up to the fitted lid
class “Beyond the Tide Pool”. Most students will be able to
complete this project in the allotted time. If for some reason the
student needs to finish later, I am willing to make some type of
arrangements to help get the project completed. This will be
addressed with the student as needed.

# 403 Party Lights Teacher: Susan Nonn Time *9:00 to 1:00 Cost $40.00 All Levels
Using a gourd of your choice, you will create a festive pendant
light. The creativity comes in creating your design. You will drill
holes to accentuate your design and the seal the gourd with
Howard's feed and wax. Using a rubber hammer you will insert
Turkish beads. This class is easy and fun for all levels of gourd
experience. There is enough time to complete this light and still
enjoy the festival Sunday.
Students need to bring: GOURD OF YOUR CHOICE, bottom cut
out and cleaned. Drill, Drill bits ranging from 5/32 to 1/2". It is
important to have a 5/16 drill bit. Inserts for light bulb, Lamp cord
will be provided.

# 404 Wire Wrapped Holiday Ornaments Teacher: Sue Brogdon Time *9:00 to 12:00 Cost $40.00
All Levels
In this workshop you will learn how to utilize metal foil in combination
with alcohol inks, Lumiere paints and other products to create stunning
holiday ornaments. Three ornaments will be wrapped in copper, bronze
and gold wire. Beads will adorn the finished product.
Students need to bring: Plastic or latex gloves, a bottle of denatured
alcohol, roll of painters tape, small wire cutters and a pair of flat nosed
pliers (this tool very important!)
