10th Annual Iowa Sheep & Wool Festival Jasper County Fairgrounds, Colfax, Iowa • June 1414-15, 2014 Speed Knitting, Ken Gossard, Kansas City, MO • Sunday • 12:30– 3:30 p.m. We will look at makes for faster knitting and what habits we fall into to slow us down. We will look SUN at how some of the fastest knitters in the world get to the speed to finish items in the matter of a PM few days. These techniques will work for both Continental and English style of knitting, using CLASS straight or circular needles. Once we understand what makes for faster knitting, you can knit for longer amounts of time and not get sore hands/muscles. We will also cover techniques of supported knitting methods, of using a knitting best and pit style knitting. STUDENTS BRING: Knitting needles that are comfortable to use, yarn to match the needle size. Best if yarn is of a smooth style with little texture, to see the movements easier. Lighter color yarn is helpful also. More than anything is an open mind of changing knitting habits. ** Cast on about 40 stitches onto needles used during class, and knit for a few rows. Raising sheep all the while, looking at what makes for good wool for great yarns. I have spent the last 10+years looking at the micro-movements of speed knitters, to get a better understanding of what makes a faster knitter. In my professional life, I have worked to help the American public gain awareness of American wool, yarns and sheep production. Class Fee may be paid by either of two methods: 1.
