Cessie B. Wows Us with
Her Collection of Sweaters
Co-President Carol W. convened the meeting at
11:05. Members introduced themselves. Cynthia W.
announced that Olga J. has a pattern on the KnitPicks
website, “Golden Fichu.”
Co-President Sara R. conducted the election for 2013
officers. The following slate was approved:
Co-Presidents:
Gayle D.
Cessie B.
Vice President:
Brenda Cl
Co-Secretaries:
Lori Y.
Joyce H.
Treasurer:
Lillian C.
Ilene E. announced that today’s fundraiser would be a
silent auction (instead of the traditional raffle). The
auctioned item was a selection of yarns from a Kaffe
Fassett kit.
Brenda C. asked if anyone is interested in helping
with the job of Vice President to contact her.
After refreshments, Melissa R. reminded members to
bring their charity knitting. Last month she
distributed baby items and knitted items to a
homeless charity.
New Co-President Gayle D. announced a board
meeting next month at 10 am before the regular
meeting. She also requested that officers and
committee chairs attend.
The program for the day was a presentation by Cessie
B. of many sweaters from her 25+ years of knitting.
Her collection is a true inspiration for any knitter.
Members were invited to examine and try them on.
Photos were taken to be posted on the website. Cessie
very generously gave a couple of her sweaters to
members who looked wonderful in them.
The silent auction was held, followed by show and tell.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:00.
Gayle asked for announcements. Pia R. said she had
attended a workshop conducted by Sally Melville and
suggested her as a teacher for future guild workshops.
Cynthia W. announced that our next workshops will
be May 10-12 with teacher Lily Chin. She circulated
handouts regarding choices of topics. She is hoping
to hold it at the Hilton in Woodland Hills where we
have had previous workshops. She will take
reservations and checks for these classes next month.
Cost is $75 per day. In addition, Sally Melville is
already scheduled for our November workshops.
Thank you for refreshments to Brenda C., Sara R.,
Kiyoko T., and Molly D.

Refreshments

will bring refreshments to the February
meeting.
February Raffle
In place of our regular monthly raffle we held a
very successful silent auction of a design-ityourself yarn kit that included a little over 4 lbs
of different yarns in blacks, greys and whites.
The guild raised $50 and our lucky winner was
Carole H. Congratulations!!!! We expect to see
something wonderful in the near future.
We are going to try this again. Joyce H. has
been very generous. She is donating a pair of
Addi Lace Clicks to our cause. Ladies, bring
your checkbooks! Bidding will start at $25 and
can be increased in $5 increments. This set of
interchangeable needles retail for $170.00.
If you think you have something of value you
would like to donate for future auctions please
feel free to discuss these items with either Ilene
E. or Sylvia K. Ilene and Sylvia will make the
determination as to whether these future items
are appropriate for an auction or a raffle prize.
