MELTON MOWBRAY COUNTRY FAIR 1st “HOMEMADE” PRODUCE & CRAFT SHOW show schedule Sunday 29th june 2014 Children & Adult Classes All entry forms to be returned to Sallie Hooper c/o Les Rosbifs Bar & Grill Six Hills Lane, SIX HILLS LE14 3PR Email: ogdgs@aol.com Leicestershire Food Links’ new Produce & Craft Show “Homemade” has been introduced as an expansion of our already popular “Big Bake” competition which has been run for the last 4 years. No true Country Fair should be without a homemade produce & handmade craft show to enable local people to compete and be proud of their skills and produce. It is part of our heritage and important for us to maintain. Therefore we are offering local competitors the opportunity to enter classes highlighting preserving, growing, art & craft skills. We do not want to run before we can walk and so this year classes will be limited but we will introduce 4 trophies:- Best in show - Food Drink & Produce -Best in Show Art & Crafts - Best Junior Exhibit -Schools Challenge The competition is run solely by volunteers if you would like to help at the event please contact Sallie on 01509 881386 or email: ogdgs@aol.com FREE ENTRY TICKET for those entering 4 or more adult classes by post (see details attached) FOOD & DRINK & PRODUCE ADULT BAKING CLASSES 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. A loaf of bread using only Flour, Water, Yeast & Salt as supported by the Real Bread Campaign Minimum weight 400gm. Made by hand and not in a bread maker A speciality loaf Minimum weight 400gms made by hand and not in a breadmaker using the 4 key ingredients of bread as stipulated by the Real Bread Campaign with additional natural ingredients – garlic, onion, dried fruit etc. 4 Fruit Scones A Signature Cake (Your own special cake – recipe required) A plate of six Cupcakes with same decoration CHILDRENS BAKING CLASSES 8-12 years 6. A collage “Summer Holidays” measuring up to 8ft x 4ft Prize £30.00 Book Tokens A class project for Primary Schools in and around Melton Terms and Conditions Postal Entry Fee Staging of Exhibits Entry for all adult classes will be £1.00 but this year we have a special offer for all exhibitors who enter 4 or more entries by post. We will be offering one FREE Exhibitor’s Ticket to each exhibitor paying £4 or more in Entry Fees. Please send an A5 self-addressed envelope with your postal entry for your entry ticket to be sent by return. If you fail to send a self addressed envelope you will not receive your entry ticket. Postal Entries must be in by Monday 23rd June to enable us to forward your free ticket. Cheques to be made payable to Leicestershire Food Links Ltd SPECIAL NOTE: Entry forms & entries submitted Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th in person will NOT be eligible for a free entry ticket, The tent will be open between 5pm & 7pm on Sat 28th June and from 7.30am on the morning of the show. Staging must be finished by 10.45am on 29th June and the area cleared for judging. You Important information to exhibitors. Cup Presentation Prize money Preserves & Cookery will be given a 5 minutes warning before closure and then asked to leave the area while judging takes place. Prior to judging, an exhibit once staged can ONLY be moved by the steward, and Only if there is insufficient space in that or adjacent classes. An Entry Ticket will be required for the Fair unless you have already been sent an Entry Ticket via the Postal Entry scheme above. If you are eligible for a free entry ticket please make sure you send your entry form in early so tickets arrive in time for the show. We will not be held responsible for late or lost postal entries. One entry form per exhibitor please. No exhibits to be removed before 5pm and must be cleared by 6pm on the day of the show. All exhibits must be removed by the exhibitor or a nominated person. The judge’s decision is final. All entries must be made or grown by the entrant. Trophies will be presented in the produce tent at 4pm. A best in show certificate will indicate you are a trophy winner. If you are lucky enough to be a winner YOU MUST be available to collect your prize or send a representative to do on your behalf. Trophies CANNOT be awarded after the presentation has taken place. Unless otherwise stated First £3.00, Second £2.00, Third £1.00. No third prize will be awarded in classes with less than four entries. Prize money may be collected from the produce tent between 4.30pm – 5.30pm. Any uncollected monies after 5.30pm will be deemed a donation to the show funds. No money can be collected after the show. Jams and preserves must be shown in plain clean jars, correctly labelled with the date and contents. All preserves will be judged on taste, colour and presentation. Only the jars must be staged on top of the paper plate provided and must not be moved. No advertising labels or dates to be seen on any jars for judging. Lemon Curd should be presented with a waxed disc and cellophane cover. All food for tasting must be covered until judging. Bread, Cakes & Biscuits must be presented on a paper plate. Tin sizes are approximate. Please note that not all exhibits will have comment cards. The committee does not hold themselves responsible for any damage or loss to any exhibit at the show.
