The Home Depot, Behr, Colony launch
New Paint Centers
When The Home Depot, Behr
and PP&G decided to upgrade
their paint centers you just knew
it would be something special. In
the fall of 2011 Behr first approached THD with the idea of
redesigning its paint centers. The project
gained momentum and in February of
2015 the newly designed fixture began
rollout out to nearly 2,000 stores across
the United States, Guam and the Virgin
Islands.
“After speaking with The THD, Behr and
PP&G I knew Colony had the resources
and horsepower to be the perfect partner
for this project” said John Laurent, Colony Account Manager for THD.
Features of the massive 30’ long by 16’
high fixture include a computerized color
matching kiosk, a modular design to accommodate future design changes and a
well lit user friendly paint chip card display
to fully engage the customer.
“The project highlighted Colony’s manufacturing advantages from our design and
engineering resources to our 300,000 sq.
ft. of flex manufacturing space” said Chuck
Zich, COO Colony Display. “It also highlighted our ability to take on large pro-
jects without disrupting other business”
said Zich.
Project specific shipping initiatives were
developed including the use of a digital
pallet mapping and imaging software to
ensure quality standards were met and
that fixtures were shipped complete. The
result was the delivery of an average of
125 stores a week from the start of the
project on February 1st until the project’s conclusion in mid June.
“The most gratifying part of the project
was that by working as a team with all
parties involved, we were able to meet
our goal of 100% on-time performance” ,
said Laurent.

John Laurent has been a vital part of
the Colony Team for over ten years.
John heads up one of Colony’s largest
key accounts, The Home Depot.
When asked what’s made him successful at Colony he replies, “I really try to
focus on three things: clear communications, verifying what I hear and I try
and pay attention to the smallest of
details”. He also points to his supporting team. “The team I have the privilege to work with on The Home Depot account is truly amazing. Jennifer
Gladson (sales administrator), Joe Galante (project management), Barth
Biagi (new business development) and
owner Kent West are all exceptional
people to work with. Each person on
the team understands their role and is
personally committed to fulfilling that
role to meet our customer’s needs.
Our success is the result of having a
terrific team that share Colony’s vision
of limiting the total number of customers that we handle in order to provide
exceptional service to all of our customers. It’s an exciting time to be at
Colony.
Communications, verification, details…..good words to live by!
Upstart CUFF launches into Retailers
When San Francisco based CUFF
needed an upscale display to test
their new line of wearable technology in a national retailer they
turned to Colony Display. Leading a
fashion revolution in the world of
wearable technology, CUFF combines the elegance of high fashion
jewelry and accessories with cutting
edge messaging and GPS technologies. Their line of “Smart Jewelry”
provides users with the ability to
simply press their jewelry to alert
their designated “first responders”
that they’re in trouble. First responders are able to see the user’s
location, track the movement of the
user and even listen to live audio
streaming from the user. CUFF
Jewelry also provides the ability for
preassigned callers to alert users of
a priority message by providing a vibration through the jewelry.
“We’re very excited to be working
with CUFF on this project” said Sandy
Jordan, Account Manager Colony Display. “CUFF is a new and exciting
brand that is changing retail by combining technology and fashion. It’s rewarding to help them create a display that
gets their unique message across”.
Look for the CUFF line of jewelry (and
our cool displays) this holiday season in
retail stores!

We’ve all heard the term CNC used in the manufacturing process but what does CNC stand for? CNC
stands for Computer Numerical Control. This means
a computer converts a design produced by Computer Aided Design software (CAD), into numbers. The
numbers are then considered to be the coordinates
of a graph and they control the movement of the cutter. In this way the computer controls the cutting
and shaping of the material in a very rapid fashion. *
