WRAPPING UP A WINNING
2011- 2012 SEASON
SPECIAL EDITION
CBS has won the 2011-2012 television season by
the largest margin of victory by any network in 23
years. This is the ninth time in the past 10 years that
the Eye has been America’s most watched network!
CBS finished the season with 11.74 million viewers, nearly
three million more than its nearest competitor (Fox). CBS also
placed first in A25-54 and, for the sixth consecutive year, second in A18-49 -- with more viewers in that demo than NBC and
ABC.
In viewers, CBS had nine of the Top 10 dramas: NCIS, NCIS:
LOS ANGELES, THE MENTALIST, PERSON OF INTEREST,
CRIMINAL MINDS, CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION,
BLUE BLOODS, UNFORGETTABLE and THE GOOD WIFE.
The Network also had eight of the top 10 comedies, including
THE BIG BANG THEORY, TWO AND A HALF MEN, MIKE &
MOLLY, 2 BROKE GIRLS, RULES OF ENGAGEMENT and
HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER.
Compared to last season, CBS posted growth not only in viewers but also in A18-49 and A25-54. And in a sign of the Eye’s
broad reach and demographic strength across its schedule,

“The television season produced a pretty good
ratings story for the Big Four broadcasters -- especially CBS. ... In 18-49 CBS had its most competitive
finish yet, and won outright in its target demo of A2554 for the first time in five years. ... Perhaps the best
news for (CBS) was the performance of its returning
shows -- all virtually matched their year-ago deliveries. ... The hottest show of the 2011-12 campaign
was CBS’s Thursday anchor, THE BIG BANG
THEORY...”

IN THE CAMERA EYE
On Sunday, May 20, on a special broadcast -- “March of the Living: Return to Auschwitz” -- CBS4 Miami
joined three Holocaust survivors for an emotional visit to the infamous Nazi concentration camp in
Poland. On the broadcast CBS4 reporter Ted Scouten (above) walked side-by-side with these individuals
to hear their firsthand accounts of life in the camp where more than 1.5 million men, women and children were murdered, either in gas chambers or by being brutally worked to death. The half hour special
