Furniture Painting Course
Your Furniture Painting Course starts at 10am and we will spend a few minutes looking at painted furniture in my workshop so you can get a feel for the colour palette I use and see the final look you will be trying to achieve. Hopefully you will start to feel inspired! We will spend most of the morning working on painted boards learning furniture painting techniques such as waxing, ageing, distressing, crackling and gilding. Just before lunch it is decision time as you decide what colour and techniques you are going to use to paint your own piece of furniture. I am on hand all day to give you any tips and advice I can, and feel free to ask me questions about how to paint furniture you may already have at home. Lunch is served round the kitchen table in our cottage and we usually have the company of our two friendly black Labradors, Islay and Lussa! After lunch we will apply a second coat of paint to your furniture, before finishing work on our boards. It will then be time to wax and finish your own transformed piece of furniture before the day ends about 4pm (this may be slightly earlier or later depending on how many people are on the course, and how quickly everyone works). The idea is not to experiment with all of the furniture painting techniques you have learnt throughout the day, but to take home a piece of beautifully hand painted furniture. By the end of the day you will have the knowledge and confidence to start painting furniture on your own, and tackle some of the other decorative techniques you have learnt. Don’t forget: To bring a small piece of furniture to paint! e.g. stool, chair, shelf unit. It is better if this is not already painted if possible, and not too fiddly. It needs to be clean and dust free but doesn’t need to be stripped. To wear clothes you don’t mind getting paint on. Whilst the paint we will be using is water based and should wash off, leave your Sunday best at home! To bring a little pad and pen in case you want to make a few brief notes. To let me know if you are vegetarian or have any other dietary requirements. Should you wish to purchase any paint or other materials used during the day, there will be an opportunity to do this at the end of the day, and you can enjoy 10% off all of the other products in my showroom including tweed, cowhide handbags, hand painted furniture and our range of French country furniture, as well as a huge range of other interiors accessories and gifts.
