A Message from
the Governor of East Java
East Java is proud to host the 12th Majapahit Travel Fair (MTF) in 2011. On behalf of
the Government and the people of East Java, I would like to extend a very warm
invitation to the travel professionals and tourism industries to participate in the annual
MTF being held from May 19 – 22, 2011 in Surabaya. The MTF is an excellent platform
for networking and establishing business contact. It has been attended by both
international and domestic buyers, a wide variety of sellers of East Java tourist
destinations, hotels, resorts and travel related services as well as industry policy
makers, academicians, tourism observers and the media.
This year, MTF is exclusively staged to highlight the program of Visit East Java
2011 and I would like to assure the delegates and visitors that East Java remains the
most splendid tourist destination worth visiting in Indonesia. The success of this event
will support the East Java Province to do its best to gear up the tourism industry as
this sector has a significant contribution to East Java Province.
While in East Java, do take the opportunity to discover and experience not only the
spectacular natural tourist attractions but also the unique blend of offers – from ethnic
cultures, exotic fruit and cuisine, colorful dances to nightlife, and you can meet the
different kinds of ethnics spread across the 38 Regencies. They are potentially
promoted and offered to other nations.
To comfort the visitors, East Java boasts its Juanda international airport having
larger area and accommodating more airlines than ever before. It also has direct flights
from and to other countries such as Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Hongkong, Brunei
Darussalam and Taipei.
I am confident you will find that the Province of East Java is ready and committed to
the continuing development of the travel and tourism industry. I wish your participation in
MTF 2011 would greatly develop your business opportunities, have many business
clients and new friends from Indonesia, and achieve every success in your business
meetings and most enjoyable and fun stay here in East Java.
Therefore, once again on behalf of the government and the people of East Java, I
look forward to personally seeing you to the MTF 2012 in East Java.
Governor of East Java
Dr. H. SOEKARWO
