How to Upload or Select an Avatar in WebStudy
An Avatar is a picture of yourself or another image you choose to represent you. In WebStudy
your Avatar picture is displayed on your Course Events Summary Page, in the Students Tab and with
Forum posts.
Clicking the “Upload or select ‘avatar’ picture (optional)” button takes you to the Personal / About page
for the current User.
Upload new avatar picture
Use picture editing software to crop or resize your intended image to 100 pixels wide by 70 pixels high
before uploading. The picture file size cannot exceed 30 KB. Be sure to save the picture in .gif or .jpg
format (those formats are optimized for web pages).
! Get the picture (gif or jpg) : Required. To use a picture of your own, click on the Browse button to
open a standard browser file upload window, where you can navigate to and select the image you want
to use for your Avatar.

A Voki is a talking voice character, a computer –generated version of oneself. The more generic term for
a Voki is a speaking avatar, a digital representation of a person or being. (www.squidoo.com/voki)
Do you want to use a Voki? Must be set to No (as shown above) to use an uploaded picture or a
preloaded static image.
To select a preloaded image… You can select from preloaded avatar images to represent you in your
course. It will appear in your Events Summary Page, Forums and the Students Tab.
The currently selected avatar is displayed. The default Avatar depends on the Gender of the current
user (Male or Female):
Click on an image from one of the galleries that you want to use for your avatar, then scroll to the
bottom of the screen and click the Submit button.

Other galleries include SPORTS, TRAVEL, and JUST FUN.

If you had already uploaded a custom avatar, you will see:
You may need to erase the existing Avatar before you can upload a new one, or choose a preloaded
image.
To erase an existing custom avatar, click the Submit button with the Browse box empty.
Then follow the steps above for Uploading a New Avatar Picture, or select from available images
to Upload or Select a new one.
