HOW TO APPLY TO STRODE’S COLLEGE EGHAM Go to our website www.strodes.ac.uk Follow the link to Apply Online For further help and advice with your application please contact: Strode's College Admissions Office 01784 437506 x290 or x292 admissions@strodes.ac.uk We look forward to welcoming you as a student at Strode's College Egham Applications for admission in Sept 2013 are available online from Monday 11th June 2012 onwards Guidance Notes for the Online Application Form These notes will guide you through the 7 short pages of the online application CAREFULLY SELECT THE YEAR YOU ARE APPLYING FOR Page 1 Complete all of your details. Make sure telephone numbers are accurate. Your correct email address is very important. We use email to acknowledge your application, send you information about your application and sometimes to confirm your interview. At this stage think about how you will get to College including the length of the journey and the cost. Page 2 Complete all of your parents/carers details including mobile/emergency numbers and email. We may need to contact your parents/carers during the College day to arrange your interview or if there is any emergency when you are a student at Strode’s. Page 3 Please select at least 3 courses so that we can choose the most suitable tutor to discuss your choices at your interview. Page 4 Enter your current or last school (with address and postcode). Enter the borough where you live. Enter all of the exam subjects (GCSE, BTEC, OCR) that you have taken or are due to take, with predicted grades if you know them, or grades achieved. Page 5 Select the tick boxes if you need to discuss Additional Learning or Medical Support needs at your interview. If you do not know your National Insurance or UCI/ULN numbers, you can leave this blank. Select your Nationality and tick the last box if you HAVE lived in the UK for the past 3 years or more. Page 6 Please complete a careful, detailed Personal Statement. Advise us of any dates that you cannot attend for interview as most appointments are held on Wednesday afternoons. Page 7 You and your parent/carer should electronically sign the application by typing the names in the relevant boxes Now Click Apply and then follow the link to download and print the School Reference Form What happens next? Within 7 days you should receive an email to confirm that we have received and processed your application. If you do not receive this, please contact the Admissions Office on 01784 437506. Please make sure that you give the School Reference form to your current school/college/tutor and they will send it to us when they have written a reference for you. We will write to you when we can offer you an interview appointment. Interviews are usually held on Wednesday afternoons. We offer interviews in order of date of application and it might be 2-3 months from date of application before we see you at very busy times of the year. If you cannot attend the appointment we offer you As a courtesy to all applicants please give us at least 5 working days’ notice if you cannot attend your interview. We will offer you another appointment as soon as we can. If you do not let us know that you cannot attend in advance, we may not be able to offer you another appointment. What should I expect at my interview? There will be a presentation about studying at Strode’s followed by a 20-25 minute informal interview. Your parents/carers are welcome to attend with you. Please bring your most recent school report, so that we have an idea of your predicted exam grades. Before the interview you should consider: Your course choices Whether you prefer exams or coursework subjects If you need any special support or have you had this at school Career or university plans The differences between school and College Your daily journey to College You will be able to ask questions about studying at Strode’s College and discuss your combination of courses. In most cases we will tell you during the interview whether we are able to offer you a place. How do I accept my place? After your interview we will send you further details by post including: An offer letter Your course choices and detailed entry requirements A full explanation of Strode’s entry requirements Details of ‘Forthcoming Events’ for new students An acceptance form Details of when you can change courses, if necessary Please return the acceptance form within 1 month of the date on your offer letter to secure your place. Other useful information There will be Introduction Days held after your GCSE exams are finished. It is essential that you attend to experience life and lessons at Strode's College. Welcome events are held for new parents/carers during the Summer Term before you start your courses. Enrolment is held the week after you receive your GCSE results and you should ensure you are available to attend this.
