Core Competencies
Pursue Ltd is a European research, consultancy, and training company with offices in Cyprus, Lebanon, Yemen, and the United
Arab Emirates. We employ a multinational staff working in seven languages and provide advice, analysis and support to senior
political, diplomatic, development and security personnel, governmental agencies and NGOs.

Pursue Ltd specialises in ‘taking a local perspective’ and in delivering high quality products in hard to reach places. Bridging the
gap between government and academia, we brief clients on the policy and programmatic relevance of data generated using
rigorous and innovative quantitative and qualitative social science methodologies. We maintain collaborative relationships with
regional and international research centres, governments, international and national non-governmental organisations, and we are
committed to empowering local communities and beneficiaries through the provision of evidence-based research, advice and the
delivery of targeted interventions.
Expertise
Alistair Harris, the Director of Pursue Ltd, is a former UK diplomat and UN war crimes investigator. Harris has worked closely with
governments and security forces in transitional, developing and post-conflict countries on strategic policy development, as well as
specific operational challenges, from counter-narcotics coordination in Afghanistan to Gaza disengagement and the creation of a
multi-agency border service in Lebanon. A scholar of Emmanuel College, Cambridge and postgraduate of St Andrews University,
he is an Associate Fellow of the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) in the UK, an Associate of the South African think tank the
Brenthurst Foundation and a regular commentator for the US Institute of Peace (USIP), the Carnegie Endowment and RUSI.
Other full-time staff employed by Pursue Ltd have experience working for the US and UK governments, UN agencies and in the
development sector. Staff expertise includes qualifications in project and programme management and in advanced mapping and
statistics software like ArcGIS, SPSS and Stata.
Our research is interdisciplinary, and the company also partners with researchers from the US, Canada, the UK, Europe and the
Arab world in fields as diverse as security and law enforcement, development, conflict, human security, youth issues, refugees,
Islamic theology, radicalisation and counter-radicalisation, social work, criminology, and biostatistics.
Publications
We partner with our clients to ensure that the work we do reaches the right people. This frequently includes publishing in English,
Arabic and other languages in academic journals. Pursue Ltd staff have published in Conflict, Security & Development, The
Journal of Refugee Studies, Foreign Policy and Terrorism and Political Violence and have written for US and UK think tanks the
Carnegie Endowment, the US Institute of Peace, and the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI).
