Gas Analysis Sample conditioning, components and systems
Gas Analysis
Sample conditioning,
components and systems
Sample Conditioning Systems require appropriately designed and
manufactured components.
A compromise in the design or in the selection of analytical equipment often leads to errors
in the measurement, lack of reliability and increased maintenance costs. Our wide range of
sampling products ensure a representative sample is presented to the analyser.
Our analytical solutions ensure precise measurement and together, the Bühler solution provides
a highly accurate and extremely reliable solution for your gas phase analytical requirements.
Sample Probes
Elegantly simple in concept and customized to meet
the needs of any gas sampling application, careful
attention is always required in the selection of:
•
•
•
•
•
composition of materials
heated / non heated
up- or downstream filters
filters with air purge and capacitive vessels
explosion proof version according
to ATEX, CSA, C-US available
Sample Pumps
Sample gas must be transported through the entire
sampling and conditioning system at steady pressure and flow. Too high a pressure in a pump can alter
the sample‘s chemistry, variable pressure can induce
error in the measurement. The Bühler pump design
ensures steady even pressure and flow regardless of
filter loading. Completely inert wetted materials, heated
and un-heated designs combined with ease of maintenance make the Bühler pump the best analytical pump
solution. Features include:
•
•
•
•
unaffected by gas containing condensate
highly corrosion resistant materials
pumps for ATEX Zone 1
and Class I Div. 1 and 2 available
FM-approved models available
Sample Coolers
Dry basis or standard condition measurements require
a stable dew point. An unstable dew point will bias the
measurement and in most cases will increase both
analyser and system maintenance. Bühler Sample Gas
Coolers provide the most stable dew point in the industry and feature the following:
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
fast and efficient dew point stabilization
single or multistream types
integrated automatic condensate drains
or peristaltic pumps available
selection of heat exchanger materials
explosion proof version according to ATEX available
self controlling, with alarm outputs
FM-approved model available
Sample Filters
All Bühler sample filters are analytical grade. The
housings provide easy access for maintenance. Main
features include:
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
Moisture Detectors
A moisture detector is an essential analyser safety device. These detectors protect the expensive and sometimes difficult to replace analyser components from
liquid water.
•
•
•
easy to install
adjustable sensitivity:
detects before reaching liquid phase
filter integrated and stand alone models
easy to integrate and install
no threads between head and bowl
range of elements from fine to coalescing
appropriate selection of materials
Absorption filters available
bypass and drain connections optional
heated versions available
Condensate Removal
Any time water dew points are reduced with a cooler, condensate will need to be removed from the
sample gas stream. Appropriate selection of all
materials used for condensate removal is crucial.
Condensate removal technologies include:
• automatic drain for pressurized systems
• peristaltic pumps integrated or stand alone
Flow Meters and Accessories
Inert and highly corrosion resistant flowmeters,
regulating valves, shut off and selection valves are
required components of any sampling system.
These components control the flow rate of the
sample gas to the analyser.

NOx - Converter
This unit allows for the accurate and reliable conversion of NO2 to NO which is a necessary function for
NDIR, NDUV and chemiluminescent NOx analysers.
• high conversion rates already at 400°C
• withstands high NO2 concentration
•
•
•
•
high exchange capacity
easy change of reactor cartridge without tools
highest conversion efficiency over time in the field
optional NH3 scrubber available
highly resistant materials
suitable for gas or liquid
bi-stable set point controller optional
easy change of glass or flow indicator while staying online
Analysers
Our 40-year experience in the gas
analysis field enables us to provide
our customers with a comprehensive range of gas analysers. The product range includes maintenance
friendly in-situ analysers with laser
technology as well as ZrO2 cells.
For extractive applications single
or multi-channel analysers can be
equipped with various measuring
cells. Hence, a paramagnetic dumb
bell cell, a ZrO2 module, IR-banks as
well as eletro-chemical cells can be
integrated into our analysers in accordance with the application.
Pre-Engineered Sample Conditioning
Solutions
The SCS series combines all elements
of a sample conditioning system into
pre-engineered off the shelf packages
that can be used for many of the routine
applications. Key benefits of the SCS are:
•
•
•
•
•
no repetitive system engineering costs
easy to maintain
field replaceable as a complete
assembly
easily customized to meet a variety
of applications
off the shelf design permits
quick delivery
The life and accuracy of process analysers depend on reliable sample conditioning systems.
These systems must be professionally
designed and the components employed in the systems should be specifically built for demanding applications.
Most of the problems that plant managers and maintenance personnel report
are caused by design faults and the use
of unsuitable material that fails under
harsh conditions.
Bühler has supplied sample conditioning systems
to the world market for over 40 years.
Amongst our references are Chemical plants, Power plants (both Nuclear and Combustion) Petrochemicals, Food industry and many others.
Bühler‘s success and growth in this highly
competitive market has depended on one
„
credo “DO NOT COMPROMISE .
The challenge for us has been to continuously improve the range of products specifically designed for sample conditioning
systems.
Bühler SCS components - designed for reliability under harsh conditions.
