The cat’s owner originally thought Beamer had been hit by a car but found out he had been shot after taking him to a veterinary surgery. A social media site which helps dog owners find their lost pets wins a national award from the RSPCA. ‘Facebark’ was set up by Middlesbrough Council’s dog warden service, and won one of the RSPCA’s Community Animal Welfare Footprints (CWF) Innovator Awards. A survey of over 11,000 pet owners finds that Britain is facing an epidemic of overweight pets who are fed junk food.
