Conference Goals and Target Audience
The 2014 MSPEN Annual Fall Conference and Chapter Meeting aims to introduce new
therapies, discuss ongoing controversies and update clinicians on current and emerging research
in nutrition support. This event brings together a wide variety of nutrition professionals and
facilitates interdisciplinary participation, communication, and involvement in the presentation
and discussion of existing and evolving issues in nutrition therapy. The programming
will include local and national experts to provide unique perspectives and evidence-based
information on a wide variety of topics. All sessions are planned at the intermediate learning
level, which assumes a general knowledge of the literature and clinical practice in the areas
covered. Participation in these sessions will assist in expansion of skills and knowledge base.

Dietitians – A.S.P.E.N., provider AM005, is a Continuing Professional
Education Provider with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
Registered dietitians and dietetic technicians, registered will receive a maximum
of 6 continuing professional education units (CPEUs) (5 units for sessions and 1
unit for exhibits). Comments and opinions regarding the program may be posted
on the CDR website.
Pharmacists – A.S.P.E.N. is accredited by the Accreditation Council for
Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.
ACPE Universal Activity Numbers (UAN) are provided with the individual
session information. Knowledge Activities – A maximum of 5 contact hours/0.5
CEUs are available.

Physicians – This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the
accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical
Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the American Society for Parenteral and
Enteral Nutrition (A.S.P.E.N.) and the Michigan Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition
(MSPEN). A.S.P.E.N. is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education
for physicians. A.S.P.E.N. designates this live activity for a maximum of 5 AMA PRA Category
1 CreditsTM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their
participation in the activity.
Nurses – A.S.P.E.N. is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education
by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
Contact Hours: A maximum of 5 contact hours are available. This is a jointly
provided activity with A.S.P.E.N. and MSPEN. A.S.P.E.N. is approved by the
California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number CEP 3970. Attendance
does not qualify nurses to alter their scope of practice.
Successful Completion
To obtain credit for this course, participants must attend in full each session claimed for credit
and complete the evaluations in A.S.P.E.Ns eLearning Center at www.nutritioncare.org/elearning.
Registered attendees may log in with the email address and password on file with A.S.P.E.N. All
evaluations must be completed and credit claimed by November 10, 2014.
