WYOMING HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS NOTE - ANNOUNCEMENTS WILL BE READ AT 9:30am (Start of 3rd hour) PLEASE POST IN YOUR CLASSROOM DAILY. Good Morning! Here are your announcements for Tuesday, October 14, 2014: GENERAL NEWS NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY: There will be an all members meeting for NHS on Tuesday, October 14 after school in the cafeteria. TODAY (10/14) any student that was free or reduced last year and has not filled out a new application for this year will automatically become full pay. Pick up a new form in the office. Art club will have a meeting in Ms.Warnos' room next Wednesday (Oct.15) at 2:35 to vote for new officers. Attention all Business Professionals of America previous and new chapter members, our first meeting for this year will be this Thursday, October 16th from 2:40-3:30 p.m. in Mr. Bushen's RM 53 to go over this years activities and competitions. Please be on time and plan on attending the full meeting. Trouble with writing? Need to polish up a rough draft? Come to Room 47 on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school for Writer's Workshop to work through those headaches. Seniors, don't forget about the envelope fundraiser. All money is due October 17. If we reach our goal we won't have to sell subs, candles, and other stuff. Get 10 people to each donate $10, or 5 people to each donate $20. For every 5 envelopes returned that contain money have your name entered into a drawing for a VISA gift card. Congratulations to the Wyoming Wolves Marching Band for their outstanding efforts and a 3rd place finish at the Grandville Invitational this past weekend! The band improved their previous score by almost 10 full points, and continue to play their best show each time they perform! Thanks to the staff members and parents who were there to support the band. The marching band finishes its competitive season at Jension (1:30) and East Kentwood (8:00), and then performs (along with the High School Jazz Band) with the Junior High bands at the Fall Concert on Thursday, October 23 ,at 7PM in the auditorium. Also, a special congratulations to these students who were chosen for the Calvin College Honor Band: Brenna Oddy, Kelly Gonzalez, Allyssa Zamarripa, Nikki Brandes, Alex Kramer! YEARBOOK There will be a yearbook cover art contest. WINNER RECIEVES ONE FREE YEARBOOK! GRAPHIC DESIGN IS ENCOURAGED! CONTEST RUNS FROM October 6TH TO November 1ST WORK MUST BE ORIGINAL! SUBMIT ENTRIES TO dipiazl@wyomingps.org There will be a photography contest for the yearbook, entry winners will receive a page in the yearbook. You must submit photo between October 3rd and November 7th, work will be framed and displayed throughout the school year. For those entering the photography contest please go to the media center website to submit your form. SENIORS! We need your pictures for the YEARBOOK! Please either email Ms. Rodgers your picture or drop a wallet off to her in room 30 ASAP! Fall Choral Concert Thursday, October 16, 2014 Wyoming Junior High Fine Arts Center 7:00 PM All choirs to be in uniform and ready to warm up by 6:30 PM. Junior High choirs meet in the choir room, High School choirs meet in the band room. Math Cafe Need help in math? Need somewhere cool to do your math? Come to The Math Cafe! Beginning this Thursday, the Math Cafe will be open in Mr. Retan's room, room 45, from 2:45 - 3:45 every Monday and Thursday. Math, coffee drinks, and cool tutors. The Math Cafe is open to all students in all math classes. Take advantage of this great opportunity! EXTENDED LIBRARY HOURS The Media Center will be open for extended after school hours on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. A snack and late bus will be provided. The Media Center Lab will be open for student use Monday through Friday from 6:45 to 7:15 in the morning. Please be reminded that the use of the Media Center is reserved for school work and study time, students who are found to be disruptive or wasting time will be asked to leave. Theatre There is cast rehearsal today for It's a Wonderful Life for Act 2 Scene 1-6 from 3 to 5 pm. There will be an ALL Company Theater meeting tomorrow in the auditorium at the Junior High from 3 to 4pm tomorrow. Counseling Seniors of Hispanic Heritage, please see Mrs Harig regarding the Latino Youth Conference Scholarship. This week we will have college reps visiting from Grand Valley, Michigan Tech, Michigan State, and U of M. Sign up in the counseling office. Sophomores and Juniors that are interested in taking the PSAT, see Mrs. Parker in the Counseling office TODAY (10/14). ATTENTION BAND PARENTS There is a band boosters meeting TODAY (10/14) at 7pm in the High School Band Room. If you have a child in band we would love to see you there. We have attached an agenda for your reference. Please come and join us and bring any questions or concerns. PARENTS!!! You are invited to meet with Mr. Robrahn on Wednesday, October 15 at 10:00am or 6:00pm. If you have questions or a topic that you would like to discuss, please feel free to call us at 530-7580. ATHLETIC ANNOUNCEMENTS 10/14/14 · Baseball players please stop in the Athletic Office to pick up your Sub Sale sheets. · Wrestling meeting Wednesday the 15th after school in the cafeteria for any student interested in wrestling this winter · Attention all boys interested in trying out for JV and Varsity basketball: Sign up meeting will be Tuesday Oct 28, 2:40 to 3:40 in Coach Vander Klay's room. Make plans. Bring pencil. · Open Gyms for Winter Girls Competitive cheer will be held on Monday, October 27th, Tuesday, October 28th and Wednesday, October 29th at Huntington Woods from 3:307pm each night. Interested students may drop in at any time provided they have a current physical on file at the Athletic Office. Tryouts will be Novemeber 10 th, 11th and 12th. Also, there will be a MANDATORY Parent/Athlete meeting on the first night of tryouts, Monday, November 10th at 7 pm in the HS Cafeteria. · You can get your "Win Forever" wrist band for $10 from Mr. Hollern, Mr. Mast, or Mr. Vander Klay. The wristband gets you into all home athletic contests all school year.
