Viva Cuba! TM C U LT U RA L E X C H A N G E VOYAG ES to Cuba beginning May 2016 A Meeting of People. And Cultures. Fathom offers mindful travelers a truly historic opportunity: a chance to help build new bridges to a rich and vibrant culture that hasn’t been open to U.S. visitors for more than 50 years. Fathom is proud to be among the first companies to be granted sailing rights to Cuba. Our intention is to develop cultural immersion experiences that give you and your fellow travelers the rare chance to learn more about the everyday lives of the Cuban people – and to harness the power of human connection to make relevant, lasting contributions that will continue to have an impact long after your ship sets sail on the return journey to Miami. ON SHORE A TYPICAL ITINERARY MIGHT INCLUDE: YOU R JOU RN EY PRE-TRIP As you plan for your journey, we’ll be sending you suggestions for home projects, reading and other activities that can help prepare you for your journey. ON BOARD Your outbound journey will include on-board orientation to Cuba’s history, customs and culture, including guided sessions with the FathomTM team for the sharing of insights and ideas about the future of cultural exchange travel to Cuba and the opportunities for social impact. You’ll put your on-board orientation to good use as you spend your days in people-topeople exchanges in locations throughout the country. You’ll meet the Cuban people one on one through cultural, artistic, educational and humanitarian activities. You’ll explore the historic architecture of Cuban cities, share stories and insights with artists, musicians and micro-entrepreneurs, enjoy some genuine Cuban cuisine, and maybe even practice your Spanish as you help local students practice their English. RETURN Your return voyage will offer ample time for self-reflection, and for sharing your experiences and thoughts with your fellow travelers, to help you find ways of continuing your personal journey after you’re back home in your own community. See Cuba as the Cubans See It Your itinerary for your Fathom voyage to Cuba will be authorized under current U.S.-to-Cuba travel guidelines, which allow travel to Cuba for the purpose of engaging in activities that support the Cuban people. And support, you’ll find, takes many forms. As a Fathom traveler, you’ll have the opportunity to interact, one on one, with the artists, musicians, small-business owners, students, health workers and others who make up the fabric of Cuban society. And you’ll quickly realize that what you can learn from them is every bit as important as what they can learn from you. If you’re serious in your desire to immerse yourself in another culture, this is your invitation to join us. With your help, Fathom’s program of cultural, artistic, and humanitarian exchanges can create new bonds between the people of the U.S. and Cuba, support increased economic activity, and encourage the Cuban people to share their stories more completely with the world. And, as you’ll discover, they do have stories worth sharing. YO U R HOM E AT SE A The 710-passenger Adonia will serve as a comfortable home base throughout your trip. With restaurants, lounges, bars, pools, a spa, a stateof-the-art gym, and all the other amenities of a 21st-century passenger ship, you’ll never lack for opportunities to relax. Thoughtfully prepared, Cubaninspired meals will nourish your body. And, of course, there’s the infinite mystery of the wide open sea around you. So your spirit gets a bit of extra nourishment too. SAI LI N G DATES 20 1 6 In addition to its built-in amenities, the Adonia was purposely chosen for this journey because it’s small enough to let you get genuinely acquainted with your fellow travelers: the people who share your commitment to meaningful travel, the people who’ll be part of your Cuban experience onshore.
