4th LeanPPD Industrial Workshop Tuesday, 28th October 2014 Cranfield University has the pleasure of inviting industry representatives to the fourth one-day industrial lean product development workshop. The objective of this workshop is to disseminate state-of-the-art research related to the implementation of lean thinking in product design and development. Through the workshop we aim to support organisations to enhance their innovation and productivity. The workshop will start with a number of informative presentations that cover some fundamentals of lean product development as well as lessons from industrial applications. The presentations will lead to a constructive debate around the current challenges faced by LeanPPD in industry and the future steps required to address them. PROGRAMME Introduction to LeanPPD and CONGA projects - Dr Ahmed Al-Ashaab, Cranfield University and Mr Martin Aston, Airbus Application of Lean PD in the Early Concept and Design Phase of Automotive Features - Mr Parham Vasaiely, Jaguar Land Rover Set-Based Concurrent Engineering (SBCE) - Dr Muhammad Khan, Cranfield University Lean Knowledge Life Cycle and the Knowledge-shelf Concept - Dr Maksim Maksimovic, Veseo Engineering, and Dr John Oyekan, Cranfield University SBCE in action: Low noise engine case study with live Knowledge-shelf demo - Mr Jon Parsons, Rolls-Royce Knowledge visualization: Using trade-off curves to enable SBCE - Miss Zehra Canan Araci, Cranfield University Knowledge-based product creation process meets modular design - Mr Steve Young, Paxton A3 thinking for problem solving: Methodology & automotive case study - Dr Ahmed Al-Ashaab, Cranfield University LeanPPD Debate LeanPPD Collaboration - Dr Ahmed Al-Ashaab, Cranfield University VENUE Stafford Cripps (SC01), Building 41, Cranfield University, MK43 0AL REGISTRATION AND CONTACT To register your place, please go to www.cranfield.ac.uk/sas/leanppd. Keynote speakers and debate panellists VESEO Engineering 4th LeanPPD Industrial Workshop Tuesday, 28th October 2014 Lean Product and Process Development (LeanPPD) LeanPPD is the application of lean thinking in product design, engineering and development. It focuses on value creation, establishing a knowledge-based environment, continuous improvement and set-based concurrent engineering. Configuration Optimisation of Next Generation Aircraft (CONGA) The CONGA project aims to develop multi-disciplinary set-based design (SBD) capabilities that can deploy new technologies on novel aircraft configurations more quickly and with greater confidence. The overall goal is to have a knowledge-driven SBD process model with a collaborative information system framework.
