Daily Bulletin – Tuesday 14th October 2014 Autumn Term – Week 7 Remember to have your diaries signed every weekend Assembly – Year 8 – Chair Duty 8D2 Room Changes: P4 Mrs Henderson class 7D3 P4 Mrs Kennedy class 7E2 from N3 to T5 from N1 to N3 THIS WEEK Year 11 - Support for College Applications and Duke of Edinburgh Award in the Library every Friday 1.05-1.45pm. Year 9 History students: Remember to hand in your order for any History textbooks before Monday 20th October. Letters are available on the website or via your History teacher. Year 10: (see bulletin outside school office) need to see Miss Axford in R6 on Tuesday 14th October at 1.10pm. Please bring lunch. Library - The library will be closed at break and lunchtime on Wednesday 15th October. Year Seven History club - is now on a Tuesday lunchtime with Mr Jewell. Self Defence Classes - Self Defence Class for Year 11 Girls is a six week course starting on Tuesday 4th November 3.304.30 in the Dining Hall. A maximum of 10 places are available and the cost is £30 per person. Please see Mrs Aynsley to sign up for this course. Mountain Bike Club – is on every Thursday 3.30-5pm. Please see/ email Mr Calver or Ms Vaughan for a medical form. All years welcome: just bring yourself and a water bottle and be prepared to get muddy sometimes! Hampshire Geography Association Competition – Open to all year groups! How do you enter? Your task is to challenge the myth that Africa is all the same, poor and lacks development. To do this you could: Find an image, poem, story or even a short YouTube clip showing the variety within this beautiful continent. Then write in no more than 500 words what the contrast is showing and why it helps to break the stereotypes surrounding this continent. There are four top prizes of £50 for the winners. Competition deadline 8/01/15. See Miss Skelton for more information! Halloween Disco - There will be a Disco for our Year 7 students on Thursday 23rd October in the School Hall. The cost is £2.50 if bought in advance or £3.00 on the door. Fancy dress can be worn but it is not compulsory. The event has been organised to raise funds for the Year 11 Ball. Smashing Pumpkins - Perins students are invited to enter a pumpkin carving competition on Friday 31st October at the Alresford Community Hall and win tickets to the Alresford fireworks display on 5th November. You are invited to bring your pumpkin creations along to the Community Hall between midday and 6.30 pm on 31 October - prizes will be awarded for effort and imagination! The entry fee is £3 per pumpkin and all funds raised will go to the Rotary Club of Alresford. Careers Interviews - Tuesday 14th October 2014 See bulletin outside school office PE AND SPORT Year 9-11 Football Referees Course – If any pupils in Years 9 to 11 are keen to gain the Football Referees Qualification from the Hampshire FA could they please see Mr Faulkner in the PE Office to pick up some information. Yr 9 Football helpers – please return permission slips to Mrs Clayton-Shepherd ASAP. Inter-House Cross Country – on the following days for the following year groups: Tuesday 14th Oct – YEAR 9 Wednesday 15th Oct- YEAR 8 Thursday 16th Oct- YEAR 7 Friday 17th Oct- YEAR 11 *Please note the changing rooms are not locked during the competition and valuables should be left in your lockers. Kit orders that have been placed with the PE Department are now ready to collect. Please come along at break or lunchtimes to collect.
