Let me share some reasons I read in an article by Dale A. Robbins, Why Should Christians Attend Church? It honors the Lord’s Day. The Bible says in Exodus 20:8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.” The Sabbath became know as the Lord’s Day. It is a day for Christians to fellowship together in celebration of the resurrection, to worship, to pray and study God’s Word. Church attendance follows the example of Jesus. Luke 14:6 says, "Jesus went back to Nazareth, where he'd been brought up and as usual he went to the meeting place on the Sabbath." The Bible tells us that "as usual" or another translation of the Bible says "as was His custom" Jesus went to the place of worship. If worship was important to Jesus it should be important to us. It provides us the opportunity to gather with other believers to publicly bear witness of our faith and trust in God. It provides a time when we as a group can bring Him offerings of praise, thanks and honor. It provides an opportunity to develop relationships with other Christians. The Bible makes it clear that a right relationship with God requires a “vertical” and a “horizontal” relationship; that is, we must have a vertical relationship with God and a horizontal relationship with other believers. Regular church attendance enables us to spiritually grow. Paul states that Christians face a wrestling match with the Devil and his evil spiritual forces. He warns us that the church must put on spiritual armor for our protection (Eph. 6:10-18). Will I see you in church this Sunday?
