HP StoreFabric CN1100R
Converged Network Adapter from QLogic
•• Full line-rate 10GbE performance across all ports
•• Consolidate network and storage traffic over converged
10GbE connections
•• Boost host CPU efficiency with full hardware offload for
iSCSI and FCoE storage traffic
•• Improve reliability and interoperability-leveraging QLogic’s
market proven converged networking leadership
•• Industry-leading FCoE performance of up to 2.6 million IOPS
and iSCSI performance of up to 1.5 million IOPS, suitable for
high-density server virtualization and large databases
OVERVIEW ROBUST VIRTUALIZATION CAPABILITY
The HP StoreFabric CN1100R Converged Network Adapter is ideal for
customers deploying virtual server environments. This adapter from
HP and QLogic provides superior network performance with support for
VMware® NetQueue and Microsoft® VMQ technologies. Virtual network
management and efficiency is enhanced with support for VLAN/VLAN
tagging.
The HP StoreFabric® CN1100R Dual Port Converged Network Adapter
provides Ethernet, iSCSI, and Fibre Channel connectivity over 10GbE using
both Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) and Converged Enhanced Ethernet
(CEE) standards. By consolidating Ethernet, iSCSI, and Fibre Channel onto
a converged network adapter, the HP StoreFabric CN1100R reduces the
number of separate adapters and cables required for your data center
and also reduces operational, power, and cooling costs while preserving
existing Ethernet and Fibre Channel infrastructure. This HP Converged
Network Adapter has been thoroughly tested with HP ProLiant®-servers
and HP Top of Rack (ToR) and End of Row (EoR) switches to ensure an
optimal HP FCoE connectivity solution for your data center.
The HP StoreFabric CN1100R also supports network partitioning (NPAR),
which provides the capability to virtualize the physical 10GbE ports at the
adapter level. Each port can be virtualized into four distinct functions,
and administrators can set quality of service (QoS) parameters based on
bandwidth requirements. The QoS can be set in 100Mbps increments or on
a priority basis using HP or QLogic management utilities.
ACCELERATE SERVER PERFORMANCE
The HP StoreFabric CN1100R boosts network performance with full linerate 10GbE throughput across all ports. With full hardware offload for
both FCoE and iSCSI traffic, the CN1100R increases server performance.
Customers can also maximize server processing performance by reducing
CPU overhead and lowering interrupt latency through the use of the MSI-X
standard supported by the CN1100R.
STREAMLINE DEPLOYMENT AND MANAGEMENT
The HP StoreFabric CN1100R Converged Network Adapter is based on
industry leading QLogic technology. The CN1100R can provide concurrent
iSCSI and FCoE functionality on a single adapter, simplifying server
deployment for customers using both iSCSI and Fibre Channel storage
networks.
This adapter from HP also supports transmit/receive side scaling (TSS/
RSS), which boosts performance in Windows® and Linux® environments by
directing interrupts to the server’s CPU cores.
A single adapter with a single driver can enable customers to deploy a
common server configuration in environments that require either or both

Data Sheet
The HP StoreFabric CN1100R Converged Network Adapter is also
designed to work in a variety of environments. HP supports this adapter
across a wide variety of HP server platforms, and it has been tested with
numerous HP and non-HP storage systems.
iSCSI and Fibre Channel connectivity. This advanced capability, along with
features like NPAR, means fewer adapters are needed to provide serverto-server and server-to-storage connectivity. This capability results in
simplified deployment and manageability along with higher reliability and
lower cost (fewer components required).
