Purpose:
Under the general supervision of the Chief of Field Office, the incumbent is responsible for administrative
support functions relating to security in support of UNICEF Iraq programme and operations.

 Provide the administrative support to Basra Zonal Office. Maintains and strictly observes the Security
plan, updating staff lists, including situation reports, maps, and warden pans and staff data.
 Conducts security surveys and provides advice on security measures for the UNICEF offices and
residences. Conducts security risks assessments if required by the Chief Staff Security Advisor.
 Assists in evacuation / relocation of UNICEF staff as and when warranted by the security situation and in
accordance with security instructions and directives. Assist in the day to day supervision of the security
providers.
 Responsible for the maintenance of Minimum Operational Security Standards (MOSS) equipment.
Operates and regularly tests emergency communication equipment needs.
 Drafts and compiles security related reports in English. Keeps all UNICEF Staff abreast on any
developing security situation and release timely security advisories.
 Liaise and coordinate with UNAMI SSU on a daily basis regarding the security situation and represent
when necessary the Security Advisor at local security related meetings. Coordinate the planning and
execution of visits and missions.
 When required, act as interpreter for Security Advisor at meetings and field trips providing accurate
translations. Drafts minutes for meetings.
 Drives and maintains office vehicles, generators and communication equipment when required.
 Performs other security related tasks, as required.
Minimum
Requirements

Education


Completion of secondary education supplemented with university courses in International law,
Political or social Science, Business or Public Administration.
Work Experience
 Six years of progressively administrative experience of which at least four years related to
management of security and personal protection operations. Completion of international, national
or commercial personnel protection training would be an asset.

Language Proficiency
Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Arabic.
