INTRODUCTION TO THE U3A
Farnham U3A is part of the Third Age Trust, which represents
local U3As throughout the UK. It is an educational, self-help
organisation providing study groups, recreational and social
activities at minimal cost. The intention is that there is sharing of
learning and skills and the experience of older people is valued.
Farnham U3A was formed in 1990 and now has over 1,100
members.
This prospectus gives details of the groups which will be
meeting throughout the academic year 2014-2015. Your
membership subscription entitles you to join as many groups as you
wish, subject to there being space available, at no extra cost. There
are three exceptions to this:
1. An extra charge may be made for a professional tutor, external
speaker or materials. This is noted in the prospectus.
2. A charge may be made to cover the costs of printing or
photocopying and other minor disbursements. This will not
generally exceed £1 per term.
3. At Project and Monthly Meetings, when refreshments are
provided, a charge may be made.
Once you have paid your subscription for the year, you
may join the groups of your choice by contacting the group
secretaries before our Registration Day.
All the groups will be represented at Registration Day, on
Monday, 1 September, from 10 a.m. to 11.30 a.m., in the Great Hall,
Farnham Maltings. This is an opportunity to learn more about
groups that you may be interested in, to join groups in person, and
to find out more about activities connected with our special project
for the year.
Changes to the Programme, and other information about the
U3A (Clubs, Events, Outings, Special Meetings) are posted on our
Website at www.farnhamu3a.org.uk and on the U3A Notice Board in
the corridor leading to The Maltings Café.
You must show your new Membership Card when registering
for the groups you wish to join. Please renew your membership
before 31 July so that your new membership card can be sent to
you in time for Registration. You may renew your membership at
The Maltings on Registration morning, but this may involve queuing .
See Website or Notice Board for programme updates
