RIP
Of your charity please pray for the repose of the soul of
Sister Stanislaus Geraghty
Of the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of Littlehampton, who died on
Saturday 11 October at St Joseph’s Convent, Littlehampton.
Her funeral Mass will be at St Joseph’s
on Wednesday 22 October 2014 at 11am.
May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God rest in peace.
Amen.
Sister Stanislaus (Sr. Stan!) taught at the original Catholic School in
Burgess Hill, St. Mary of the Angels, from 1962-1967 and on the
completion of its replacement, St. Wilfrid’s Catholic Primary, she
taught there from 1967-1981, (as well as being sacristan for St.
Wilfrid’s Church) when she left to take up the posts of, firstly, novice
mistress and then Mother General of the Franciscan Missionary
Sisters of Littlehampton, until 1993, when she returned to Burgess
Hill to work at St. Anne’s Convent as Superior and bursar.
She was at St. Anne’s until 2008 when she was assigned to the
convent in Knock, St. Mary of the Angels - just like that first school
here in Burgess Hill. When she was diagnosed with incurable cancer,
in the summer, with no fuss or bother she returned to
Littlehampton to die in the Sisters’ Motherhouse. Sr. Stan was a
religious Sister for nearly 70 years and in Burgess Hill about 35 of
those years, a religious life lived faithfully to the end and always
dedicated to the service of the Church and the people of God. She
was also the “blood” sister of Sister Martha. We thank God – and the
Franciscan Sisters - for her years among us.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.
Now enter into the reward the Lord has promised.”
May she rest in peace.

Communion Hymn
The Lord’s my shepherd, I'll not want.
He makes me lie in pastures green.
He leads me by the still, still waters,
His goodness restores my soul.
And I will trust in You alone.
And I will trust in You alone,
For Your endless mercy follows me,
Your goodness will lead me home.
He guides my ways in righteousness,
and He anoints my head with oil,
and my cup, it overflows with joy,
I feast on His pure delights.
And though I walk the darkest path,
I will not fear the evil one,
for You are with me, and Your rod
and staff, are the comfort I need to
know.

First Holy Communion Prayer
Father in Heaven, our
children are preparing for
their First Holy Communion
next June. We ask you to be
with them so that they may
grow in their understanding of the
Scriptures, of the Sacraments and
especially of the gift of you Son in The
Eucharist. Please inspire parents,
grandparents and the children’s
catechists to be supportive, thorough
in teaching and personal examples of
Christian living to inspire all those
preparing for First Holy Communion.
We ask this in the name of your Son,
Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
