Retirement is a great job with some drawbacks: 1. There are no opportunities for advancement. 2. No one is available to promote you. 3. You need a raise but cannot find anyone to ask. 4. No one seems to be in charge. 5. You think about quitting, but can’t find where to resign. 6. No one is on duty to write your final check. 7. You would like to hate your boss but you can’t find him. 8. You don’t know what your hours are, and you can’t claim overtime. 9. With no schedule or deadlines, you can’t get an evaluation. 10. In summary, retirement is a disorganized mess. adapted Henry Milligan P.S. Interestingly, the Bible doesn’t mention “retirement”. Jesus met many people during his ministry, but no matter what their age or their station in life, he expected them to start working for his Kingdom from that moment forward. Jesus warned us, “We must work the works of Him who sent me, as long as it is day, for the night is coming when no man can work” (John 9:4). So we can all look forward to retiring from our day job, but not from serving God as long as we live. RKO Confronting a Dismissive Culture Today, we welcome Dr. Philip Thompson to Waterview to discuss Can Thinking People Believe? Dr. Thompson, who teaches Bible at Harding University and faces the issue of Christianity’s validity daily, will present four lessons to help us bolster our faith and have answers for critics of faith. Morning Bible Class Morning Worship Evening Class Evening Worship Can a Thinking Person Believe in a God Who Created the World? Can a Christian Be a Thinking Person? Can a Thinking Person Believe in Jesus Who Rose from the Dead? Can a Thinking Person Believe in a God Who Allows Suffering? Join us for all of these sessions. If you have friends who struggle with faith, call them and invite them to come with you tonight. Great Commission Sunday 3 Weeks Away Our first Great Commission Sunday is 3 weeks away.
