THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE TODAY A Word from Fr. Rocks. . . . Since October is the month of the Rosary, I will mention some more points concerning the importance of this great Marian Devotion. According to one author, the Rosary is like a small Credo, that is, profession of faith. The twenty mysteries of the Rosary are divided according to the principle mysteries of our faith: the Incarnation (Joyful/Luminous), the Redemption (Luminous/Sorrowful), and Eternal Life (Glorious). As one prays the Rosary one can focus on the Hail Mary, recalling the joy of our Lady as she is told of the Child to be born of her, how Jesus is the fulfillment of all desires and hopes, that he is the God -Man, the savior of the world. We can sense Mary's pain as Jesus is rejected and undergoes his passion. We share Mary's joy when she encounters Jesus risen from the dead and when she experiences the glorification God wills for his faithful. As one prays the Rosary one can let the Hail Mary be a melody, blocking all distraction, helping to focus on each of the mysteries. In this way we begin to look upon the life of our Lord as presented in these 20 mysteries with the eyes of our Lady. This can lead to contemplation, strengthening faith, hope and charity. For example, when a person prays the Luminous Mysteries in this way, that person is guided by Mary to see her Son as she sees him, as the Son of God. Such a prayerful gaze brings such a person to be enlightened by faith, to a deeper hope and a more fiery charity. Regardless of how we pray the Rosary, when it is prayed with reverence and devotion, the Aves (Hail Mary) penetrate the hearts with the mystery being meditated upon, allowing it to take root and produce the fruit of eternal glory. I t’s usually easy to pray for our own children. Their needs are so apparent to us. Since October is Respect Life month, pray today, now, this moment, not only for your own children, but for all children in the world, both born and unborn; for all lives that are threatened or suffering. BEREAVEMENT MASS SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2014 - 1:00 PM ll parishioners are invited to attend this special liturgy which celebrates the new life of the faithful departed. Our hope is that we can be of assistance to the bereaved survivors to persevere on the journey from grief to healing. We invite everyone to join us in this special celebration. MASS OF ANOINTING SATURDAY, OCTOBER 25, 2014- 1:00 PM O ur mission as disciples of Jesus Christ is to do what Jesus did. In reading the Gospels, we learn about Jesus’ concern for the sick. Healing was essential to the mission of the disciples: “He summoned the Twelve and began to send them out two by two. They anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them” (Mark 6:7-13). The early Church continued to be a sacrament of healing: “Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise them up; and anyone who has committed sins will be forgiven” (James 5:14-15). The Parish’ Communal Anointing of the Sick Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 25, at 1:00 p.m. ST. Adams-Perfect Funeral Homes, Inc. Alicia C.
