The plan was work up north for five years, and then see what happens next. Little did Anita know, that once one drinks the fluorinated waters of Terrace, they never leave! Just kidding. God’s calling to stay in Terrace was strong, and it was solidified by the by the amazing sense of community she found here. That being said, five years has turned into 23 in a just a blink of an eye. However, it’s a good thing Anita is no stranger to moving around because in her formative years she spent some time living in Alberta, and also the United States. Anita spent two years at the King’s University College in Edmonton, and later went on to study at Dordt College where she graduated and also met her husband, Cal. After graduation Anita taught in Red Deer, Alberta for two years, and from there moved to Langley, BC, where she taught for three years. Anita has been a part of the Centennial community for a while now, as a teacher, the librarian and again as a teacher. In fact, this month marks the 20 year anniversary of Anita putting her teaching career on hiatus to begin raising her son, Tyler, who is now studying at the King’s University College, and her other son Nathan, who is studying at Dordt! However, we are still fortunate enough to be graced by the presence of Eryn and Jonas here at Centennial. Besides teaching, Anita has a plethora of hobbies which include hiking, gardening, floor hockey, and reading! This year Anita is teaching alongside Jeanette Ewald in grades 2/3. Anita has enjoyed the dynamic this brings into the classroom. Anita, being a couple of year olders than Jeanette brings a lot of wisdom into the mix. Like a fine wine, or Mr. Miyagi from The Karate Kid, with age comes experience, and with experience, comes wisdom... It’s going to be great year, Anita, and we are excited for the wisdom you will impart and the lessons you will teach us this year!
