THE SERMON Worshippers are invited to come forward and place their commitment cards in the basket in front of the table. “To Listen and to Love” Heath Rada Moderator of the 221st General Assembly, PCUSA Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen. SENDING * AFFIRMATION OF FAITH TOULON PRAYER OF CONFESSION (unison) Generous God, you have given us so much. Give us one more thing. Give us thankful hearts because we know our hearts can be hard and cold. We often hold on when we should let go. We are clutching when we should be spending, hoarding when we could be generous, doubting when we should lean on faith. We are fearful instead of trusting in your everlasting care. Open our hands and our hearts to the bounty of your love, which cares for the flowers of the fields, the birds in the air, each child who toddles, every parent who worries, every adult who struggles. Apostles’ Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. After hearing and responding to God’s Word, we are prepared to go into the world where we are called to live according to God’s will. * HYMN 774 There Is Now a New Creation STUTTGART * CHARGE AND BLESSING * POSTLUDE Partita on “Praise, My Soul, the King of Heaven” VI. Finale Robert Hobby Following the Postlude the children are invited to the Chancel to join Ethel Geist in a presentation of “Dinosauria” narrated by Guy Rothfuss.
