Undergraduate Exchange website for the opportunity to get reduced tuition.
BSU & PROJECT BEST: There will be a meeting this Thursday, October 30th during 4th and
5th lunch in Room 301. We’ll be discussing the upcoming events in the community and
electing officers.
FRENCH CLUB: Come to French Club on Wednesday, October 29th during 5th lunch to
room 1207 for important Honor Society Events!
REMINDER: M.E.C.H.A. meetings are every Wednesday at 8:00 AM in room 708.
ATTENTION STUDENTS: We know we have the most school spirit, but we want to show all
of Kern County why we’re the best! Channel 23ABC is hosting a contest to find out who has
the most school spirit in all of Kern County. One school will win an iPad Air and other prizes

HEY STUDENTS: There is a Liberty’s Gay-Straight Alliance meeting Tuesday, November
4th. We’ll be discussing t-shirt designs and upcoming events in the community. Come by Mr.

SENIORS: CSUB rep will be for an Online application workshop October 28th during 2,3 and
4th per. UC rep will be here for an Online application workshop on October 30th during 2nd and
3rd per. Sign please up in the Career Center.
ATTENTION ART CLUB MEMEBERS: Members who are selling Halloween Grams, you
need to turn in your grams and money by Wednesday, October 29th to Ms. Brown in room
302.
ALL STUDENTS: Halloweentown is coming to the Sadie’s Hawkins Dance, October 29th at
7:30pm. Girls ask the boys or come in a group of friends! You MUST have a signed DANCE
CONTRACT to get in the door. Bring it with you. Dance contracts are available in the Activity
Office. Dance contract will be good for the entire school year. Tickets are available at the
door. Guests must be approved thru the Dean’s Office by Monday, October 27th. Wear your
costumes but masks cannot cover your face. Hope to see you in Hallowentown! Don’t
forget you must have the white dance contract with you at the door!

ALL STUDENTS: The Art Club is now selling Halloween grams. The gram is a specially
designed three fold note that allows you to add your own special message. It comes with a
delicious caramel apple sucker. All grams will be delivered on Halloween Day!

Conference in Washington, DC this summer. Come to the counseling office for more

SENIORS ONLY: There will be a UC Rep on campus on Thursday, October 30th from 9:29 11:30 am. She will be here to answer and questions you may have about the UC system and
about the UC applications. Signup sheets will be in the Career Center.
SENIORS: Applications are now being accepted for students interested in attending a United
States Service Academy: Air Force, Merchant Marine, Naval and Coast Guard for the entering
in June 2015. The application deadline is November 20, 2014 and congressional nominations
will be made by December 31, 2014. U.S. Service Academy Guidelines, Nomination and
Appointment Process Information, and the Application for Nomination is available at http://

SENIORS: The Dominican University of California campus visit days in 2014 are at 8:30 am 2:00 pm on Saturday 27, November 15, and December 13. To register online visit

SCHOLARSHIPS
SENIORS: NIFB Young Entrepreneur Award programs are non-renewable scholarships created to recognize young people who
have demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit and initiative. The scholarships are valued between $1000 and $15,000. The NFIB
Young Entrepreneur program was established to raise awareness among the nation’s youth of the critical role that private
enterprise and entrepreneurship play in the building of America. Students are able to apply October 1, 2014 thru December 18,
2014. Students can apply online at www.NFIB.com/YEA.
SENIORS: 2014 Hispanic Heritage Foundation Youth Awards. We have added a category to the 2014 Youth Awards:
Community Service! This category is for community-minded students who have demonstrated excellence in volunteerism
and leadership and who are committed to making a difference in our community. It has a special extension due date of
October 31, 2014. You can apply online at bit.ly1npK5bS.
SENIORS: Bakersfield Chapter is pleased once again to sponsor the DAR Good Citizens program in our area. The student
is to be an outstanding young person in the senior class who has shown the qualities of Dependability to include
truthfulness, loyalty and punctuality; Service to include cooperation, courtesy, and consideration of others; Leadership
includes personality, self-control and ability to assume responsibility; and of course, Patriotism, which includes unselfish
interest in family, school, community, and nation. All of these qualities make for an outstanding Good Citizen. If you are
interested please come to the counseling office to sign up for the DAR Good Citizen scholarship. Please sign up in the
counseling office by November 3rd.
SENIORS: 2015 GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program. This national program awards college scholarships to high
school seniors who embody the characteristics of President Ronald Reagan at school, in the community, in the workplace,
and at home. We’re looking for students with leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship. Recipients receive $10,000
renewable scholarships – up to $40,000 per student. Apply online through www.reaganfoundation.org/scholarships or http://
facebook.com/GEReaganScholarships The deadline is January 8, 2015.
SENIORS: Ronald McDonald House Charities U.S. Scholarship program. The RMHC scholarship program seeks to invest
in students who are exemplary role models in their communities and have the initiative to fulfill their educational goals.
Please visit www.rmhc.org for complete program details and eligibility requirements. The deadline is January 20, 2015.
SENIORS: The California Wine Grape Growers Foundation (CWGGF) is offering at least 6 scholarships in study 2015 to
graduating high school seniors. Students may study the subject of their choice. At least two 4-year, $8,000 scholarships are
available for any campus in the University of California or California State University system and at least four 2-year, $2,000
scholarships are available for any California community college. Continuation of scholarships is dependent upon
satisfactory completion of at least 12 units per semester. Only the children of vineyard employees working in the 2014 or
2015 wine grape growing season are eligible to apply. However, children of wine grape growers may request a waiver from
the eligibility requirement based upon financial need. Children of current directors or employees of the CWGGF are not
eligible to apply. Applications are available in the counseling office. The deadline is March 27, 2015.
