Announcements
Join Us for Trunk-or-Treating: Thursday, October 30!
This is a big event for our church! We expect 200 people and it cannot happen
without many adults on hand to offer this fun and safe event to our
community. We need NWPC volunteers to staff trunks full of treats, our
“happily haunted house”, traffic flow, and food distribution. We count on our
very creative NWPC trunk decorators and generous candy givers. Please note:
Register your trunk by October 24 in order to be included in “Trunk or Treat”.
Please see or email Michele Soteres, Msoteres@bellsouth.net, of the Outreach
Team to register your trunk and sign up to volunteer, or register at

Sign up Now for a Fellowship Dinner the weekend of November 14-15.
Adults are invited to sign up to attend a Fellowship Dinner the weekend of November 14-15. Sign-up
sheets will be in the Narthex. Please indicate if you prefer Friday or Saturday night (or either) and if you
are willing to host one of the groups at your home. These casual meals, usually potluck-style, are a
wonderful opportunity to meet other members of the church. Any questions? Please contact the
November dinner coordinator Mary Ann Matthews at 404-403-5839 or marymatthews326@gmail.com
Covenant Bible Study for Women
We are mid-way through the 8 week course, with 12-18 women participating each week. We are reading
through major portions of Scripture, both Old and New Testament, and listening for the ways that God
keeps covenant with us and leads us into relationship with God and others.
Children’s Noisy Offering: Treadle Pump!
Thank you to the congregation for helping our children raise funds to provide Treadle Pumps for Farmers in
the Presbyterian Church of Malawi in Central Africa. So far we have raised over $200.00, with coins yet to
count. Each treadle pump costs $65.00, so we will send at least three. We will dedicate this offering in
worship on 10/26.
The 1st Annual NWPC Golf Tournament on Monday, October 20, was a huge success with beautiful
weather and attended by 25 members and guests. Thanks to John Wilson and Bob Reed for organizing
this fun event!

WELCOME AND INTRODUCTION TO THE SERVICE
Dr. Tim Boggess
One: The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
All:
And also with you.
CHORAL INTROIT
“Pilgrim’s Hymn”
Stephen Paulus
Even before we call on your name to ask You, O God.
When we seek for the words to glorify You, You hear our prayer.
Unceasing Love O unceasing love, surpassing all we know.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
CALL TO WORSHIP from the Iona Abbey Worship Book
One:
All:
One:
All:
One:
All:
One:
All:
Creator of the world, eternal God,
We have come from many places for a little while.
Redeemer of humanity, God-with-us,
We have come with all our differences, seeking common ground.
Spirit of unity, go-between God,
We have come on journeys of our own, to a place where journeys meet.
So here, in this shelter house, let us take time together.
For when paths cross and pilgrims gather,
there is much to share and celebrate.
In your name, three-in-one God, pattern of community, Amen.
* HYMN OF PRAISE 624
“I Greet Thee, Who My Sure Redeemer Art”
* PRAYER OF CONFESSION from the Scots Confession, 1560 (Unison)
We confess and acknowledge that the Law of God is most just, equal, holy and
perfect; but our nature is so corrupt, weak and imperfect, that we are never able
perfectly to fulfil the works of the law. Even if we say that we have no sin, we
deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. It is therefore essential for us to lay
hold on Christ Jesus, in His righteousness and His atonement; since it is by Him
that we are set at liberty. For God the Father accepts our imperfect obedience as
if it were perfect and covers our works, which are defiled with many stains, with
the righteousness of His Son.
A time of quiet, personal confession.
In your mercy, Lord, hear our prayer, and forgive us.
Amen.
* ASSURANCE OF PARDON from the Scots Confession, 1560
One: Friends, believe the good news of the Gospel:
All:
In Jesus Christ we are forgiven!
* SUNG RESPONSE
GLORIA PATRI
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen, Amen.
* SHARING THE PEACE OF CHRIST
One:
All:
The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
And also with you.
You are invited to share words and signs of greeting and reconciliation.
TIME WITH YOUNG DISCIPLES
 Children K4-2nd grade are invited to depart for Young Children and Worship.
CONCERNS AND CELEBRATIONS OF THE CHURCH
PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER (Unison)
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy
will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and
forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory,
forever. Amen.
