(ground rubber tires) as an additive to modify lesser performance grade (PG)
liquid asphalt and achieve properties of polymer modified asphalt. It is a practice
that is catching on in the industry. The modification brings the PG binder up to LA DOTD specs, allowing
the asphalt producer to meet higher specifications at lower cost. Every ton of asphalt uses one tire; in
sustainability terms, a million ton asphalt producer can remove a million used tires from possible landfill.
