2014 Webelos Woods November 14-‐16 Westminster Park, Rock Hill What is it? Webelos Woods provides an introduction to Boy Scout skills for 2nd year Webelos Scouts. Participants will spend the weekend working as members of a patrol to help them understand the Boy Scout structure. Experienced Boy Scouts will serve as troop leaders and provide instruction that will help prepare the boys to successfully complete Webelos and Arrow of Light requirements. The experience will also prepare parents to support their Scout to successfully transition to a Boy Scout Troop and immediately begin working on advancement. When and where? The event will be held November 14-‐16 at Westminster Park, off India Hook Road in Rock Hill, SC. Check-‐in will begin no earlier than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 14th. The program will begin at 7:30 p.m. and continue through Sunday morning, with departure set for noon Sunday. Cost? $25 per Youth includes T-‐shirt and Patch $20 per Adult (Adult T-‐shirts are $10 extra) $15 per Staff Youth and Adult (includes Staff T-‐shirt) Food is provided on Saturday (breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner) and Sunday (breakfast) Registration Dates? Registration will open September 12th and close October 24th or when the program is full. If the program is full before you register you will be placed on a waiting list. What can you expect? Scouts will be divided into patrols of 6 to 8 members. If registration exceeds 48, a waiting list will be created. Each Scout will be provided with more information after registering. Did you know? Virtually all of the skills required to earn the Tenderfoot badge can be learned as a Webelos Scout. Most of the Second Class skills are found in the Webelos Activity Badge program. Three First Class requirements can also be learned while achieving the Webelos badge. Please Remember: Since Webelos are still Cub Scouts, at least one parent/guardian must attend the event with EACH Scout. Cub leaders, event leaders or other parents cannot take responsibility for your Scout. There are no slots for siblings or other non-‐Webelos children. Parents will need to bring a tent and must camp/stay on property for the entire weekend. Your Scout will be tenting with another Cub Scout (tent provided), so you won’t need a large tent. All youth and staff participants will need to bring a BSA medical form with parts A & B completed with them for check-‐in. You will not be allowed to participate without this. You are responsible for your own dinner Friday evening. There will be portions of the program specifically designed for parents, so the adults won't be bored! Note for interested 1st Year Webelos: Although this event is primarily for 2nd year Webelos, 1st year Webelos may be allowed to attend if space is available. Slots will be on a first-‐come, first-‐serve basis. If interested, please submit the registration form and check the box for 1st year Webelo. Payment for the waiting list is not required until your registration spot is confirmed. You will be contacted before October 31st with a response on available space to allow you time to submit payment to reserve your slot.
