Further we had also mentioned that a bounce from current level up to 7800 – 7900 – 7950 was possible. The week witnessed a gap up opening and momentum on the upside intensified as the week progressed which led the Nifty to test a high of 8012. The Sensex ended with gain of 2.78% whereas Nifty lost 2.60% vis-à-vis the previous week. Source: BSE NSE Global Indices Source: Bloomberg . Satisfying Investors. Pattern Formation: On the weekly chart, we are observing that the weekly bias has turned positive. Further, the price action has formed a candlestick pattern that resembles a bullish Morning star at the median line of the channel. On the daily chart, we are observing two upward gap areas 1) In the range of 7819 to7856. 2) In the range of 7936 to 7974. Normally, according gap theory, Gaps is a continuation pattern. However the daily formation is still in a bearish lower top lower bottom formation. The said pattern will get violated if Nifty trades and close above 8160 level. Outlook: Combining the above two pattern formations it is evident that the median line of the channel holds significance going forward. As long as prices hold the median line of the channel the momentum on the upside is likely to continue. At present the two upward gap area mentioned above 1) 7819 to 7856 2)7936 to 7974 are major support for the market. As long as Nifty holds this gaps area there is a possibility that Nifty may test 8160 (major resistance level). Any close above the mentioned 8160 level would negate the bearish lower top lower bottom formation. In such scenario, Nifty is likely to test 8250 – 8348 - 8419 levels on the upside. Broadly, as long as prices hold the median line of the channel it is clear that momentum on the upside is likely to continue. Hence, trade with positive bias as long as 7700 level holds. 1 Update Report Market Breadth NSE BSE Advances 999 1784 Declines 493 1031 Same 79 114 2.02:1 1.73:1 A/D Ratio Source: BSE NSE Market Turnover (Rs. in crores) Indices 22-Oct 21-Oct Chg (%)chg BSE 2617.70 3112.63 -494.93 -15.90 NSE 14289.33 16258.88 -1969.55 -12.11 Futures 38525.16 47570.19 -9045.03 -19.01 Options 186999.5 248959.6 -61960.10 -24.89 242432 315901 -73469.61 -23.26 Total Source: BSE NSE Indices Watch Indices Bank Nifty Close 16444.70 (%) Chg 0.11 CNX IT 10767.40 0.70 BSE Midcap 9575.83 1.21 CNX Midcap 11432.80 1.00 BSE Small Cap 10504.15 1.17 BSE Auto 18020.89 2.97 BSE Bankex 18822.74 0.19 BSE Capital Goods 15056.50 2.08 BSE Consumer Durables 9615.74 1.16 BSE FMCG 7385.46 0.06 BSE HC 13842.83 1.67 BSE IT 10142.88 0.71 BSE Metal 11272.75 0.55 BSE Oil & Gas 10724.58 0.57 BSE Power 2080.62 0.55 BSE PSU 8056.59 -0.42 BSE Realty 1486.08 0.41 BSE TECk 5707.44 0.64 India VIX 13.03 -2.25 Source: BSE NSE Index PE Nifty 22-Oct 20.65 Yr high 25.91 Yr low 15.23 Sensex 18.38 24.47 15.84 Source: BSE NSE Macro Economic Data Monthly Inflation (m-o-m) IIP growth (m-o-m) Repo Rate Reverse Repo Rate CRR GDP Growth (q-o-q) Current 2.38% 0.40% 8.00% 7.00% 4.00% Previous 3.74% 0.50% 8.00% 7.00% 4.00% 5.70% 4.60% Source: Various Generating Wealth.
