In our previous weekly report, we had mentioned that if Nifty trade
below 7723 level then it was likely to test the demand zone of 7635
– 7540 levels. Further we had also mentioned that a bounce from
current level up to 7800 – 7900 – 7950 was possible. The week
witnessed a gap up opening and momentum on the upside
intensified as the week progressed which led the Nifty to test a high
of 8012. The Sensex ended with gain of 2.78% whereas Nifty lost
2.60% vis-à-vis the previous week.

Pattern Formation:
On the weekly chart, we are observing that the weekly bias has
turned positive. Further, the price action has formed a candlestick
pattern that resembles a bullish Morning star at the median line
of the channel.
On the daily chart, we are observing two upward gap areas 1) In
the range of 7819 to7856. 2) In the range of 7936 to 7974.
Normally, according gap theory, Gaps is a continuation pattern.
However the daily formation is still in a bearish lower top lower
bottom formation. The said pattern will get violated if Nifty trades
and close above 8160 level.
Outlook: Combining the above two pattern formations it is evident
that the median line of the channel holds significance going forward.
As long as prices hold the median line of the channel the momentum
on the upside is likely to continue. At present the two upward gap
area mentioned above 1) 7819 to 7856 2)7936 to 7974 are major
support for the market. As long as Nifty holds this gaps area there is
a possibility that Nifty may test 8160 (major resistance level). Any
close above the mentioned 8160 level would negate the bearish
lower top lower bottom formation. In such scenario, Nifty is likely to
test 8250 – 8348 - 8419 levels on the upside.
Broadly, as long as prices hold the median line of the channel it is
clear that momentum on the upside is likely to continue. Hence,
trade with positive bias as long as 7700 level holds.
