VOCATIONS CORNER
About my life? Your will be done, Lord!
PASTOR’S CORNER
“Philadelphia Couple creates ‘bucket list’ for terminally
ill, unborn son.” This headline introduced me to the most
inspiring pro-life story I’ve seen in years. Jenna and Dan Haley were told in April that their son, who they named Shane,
has anencephaly, a defect in which the baby is born without
parts of the brain and skull. Almost all babies born with the
condition die shortly after birth. Most parents are so devastated by such news that they go along with the standard medical
advice to abort the child as soon as possible. However,
strengthened by their Catholic faith, Dan and Jenna respected
the intrinsic dignity of their son as a gift from God and would
not consider the direct killing of their child. A post on their
Facebook page read, “We are asking for your prayers and
support and that God grants us as much time as possible with
our beautiful son. Shane has already proven to us that each
day must be lived to the fullest, and that is exactly what our
little family is doing.” The Haleys visited the places associated with their favorite childhood memories: baseball games,
museums, the beach and a pumpkin patch. Little Shane was
born on October 9. He survived for four hours, surrounded by
unconditional love, baptized into the Catholic Faith, dying
peacefully in his mother’s arms, and then, passing into the
glory of God’s eternal Kingdom. October is Respect Life
Month. Praise God!
Blessings, Fr. John

Did you miss the historic Mass in the Extraordinary
Form on October 3? It will be celebrated again on November 1, All Saints Day, at 1 pm. Come and listen to
the beauty of Gregorian chant and to experience the reverence of what has been described as “the most beautiful
thing this side of heaven”. The parish collection of holy
relics will be present during the Holy Mass.
MARRIAGE, DIVORCE & ANNULMENT
There is no other topic more sensitive to many Catholics
than the Church’s teachings on marriage and divorce.
Why so many rules about marriage? Can I attend a wedding of a Catholic marrying outside the Church? What
about Catholics married only civilly? Why does the
Church oppose divorce? What is an annulment? Can divorced and remarried Catholics receive Holy Communion? Today, 2:30 pm, Parish Center
