PASTOR’S CORNER
WORLD MISSION SUNDAY
Thank you for your support of the Society for the Propagation
of the Faith and its vital work in 1,150 dioceses throughout
the world. Your generosity helps keep the following going
day in and day out:
• 9,000 clinics caring for the sick and dying
• 10,000 orphanages, providing a place of safety and shelter
• 900,000 children in some of the poorest parts of the
world, receiving an education and the knowledge of
God’s great love
• 80,000 seminarians preparing for the priesthood
• 9,000 religious Sisters and Brothers in formation programs
“The Church is called to transmit the joy of the Lord to her
children,” Pope Francis tells us. And as members of the
Church, united as the One Body of Christ, we are called to
support in prayer and sacrifice the Church’s mission to bring
that joy to people everywhere – especially, as Pope Francis
urges, “the poorest, the weakest, the least important…”
Blessings, Fr. John

MARRIAGE, DIVORCE & ANNULMENT
There is no other topic more sensitive to many Catholics
than the Church’s teachings on marriage and divorce.
Why so many rules about marriage? Can I attend a wedding of a Catholic marrying outside the Church? What
about Catholics married only civilly? Why does the
Church oppose divorce? What is an annulment? Aren’t
annulments just “Catholic divorce”? Can divorced and
remarried Catholics receive Holy Communion? Don’t
miss this important presentation! Sunday, Oct. 26,
2:30 pm, Parish Center. (behind Marello bookstore.)
