We congratulate them and their families and welcome them as new member of our Parish. Angelina Armas-Figueroa Kevin Alexander Gonzalez Daniella Andrea Gonzalez-Figueroa Samantha Nicole Jaigua Madison Libongco Angel Gabriel Liz Alejandro Pasaran Isabella Pasaran Marai Caterina Rodriguez Fredrick Alexander Sears-Alba Andrea Elizabeth Vargas Emma Grace Vazquez JUNE 28, 2015 4 From the Pastor’s Desk…. (6/28/15) Both Jairus (the synagogue official) and the woman with the twelve years affliction had reached the point where they had to take drastic action. They approached Jesus in their distress and found new hope in Jesus. He responded to a non Jew and to a woman, with compassion and healing. The nameless woman had spent every dime she had on doctors who could not help her. She did all she knew to do but all in vain. Now she was insecure, disappointed and frustrated. She had lost everything else but faith. Jesus was her last hope. We learn from this Sunday’s Gospel passage that whatever our situation of depression might be, turn to Jesus and find hope in Him. Jesus said to the woman: “Daughter your faith has saved you. Go in peace and be cured of your affliction” (Mk 5:34). The last part of Jesus’ words of blessing are “be cured of your affliction”. A more literal translation would be, May you always remain healthy. May all who are dysfunctional in their own ways receive this powerful blessing from our divine healer Jesus the Lord. New Music Director Next month two new people are joining our parish staff. Ms. Cynthia Macias is our new Director of Music. She has fifteen years’ experience as music director in several Churches. I want to warmly welcome Cynthia to St. Nicholas of Tolentine Parish. Please stop by to greet her. About the other person I will let you know in my next week’s column. (Surprise!) We welcome back Msgr. Gabriel Enuagha, who will be assisting us again at the parish in the months of July and August. Happy Fourth of July weekend. We celebrate and give thanks to God for the gift of our freedom and independence. As Christians and citizen of the world we are called to use our freedom in ways that help and heal other rather than hurt and destroy them. May God help our nation to walk in the way of peace and justice. God bless you Fr. John Francis First Friday Eucharistic Adoration will be held on July 3, 2015 starting after the 7:45 am Mass and ending with a bilingual Holy Hour at 7:30 pm, in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. ThirteenTH Sunday in ordinary time St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church is having a Blood Drive on July 12th from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm in Tolentine Hall. Please remember to eat/ sleep well and always to take good care of yourself. Below is some important information regarding how giving blood helps to save lives: Red Cells - carry oxygen to the body’s organ & tissues needed by surgery, trauma, cancer and chemotherapy patients, accident, burn victims and at-risk infants. Plasma - is the liquid through which blood cells, proteins, enzymes, nutrients and hormones “swim”. Platelets - act like band-aids to form clots and stop bleeding. It is very important to know that the blood is perishable just like milk, red cells lasts for 42 days; platelets last for 5 days; plasma can be frozen for up to a year. All you need to bring is identification and your love for your neighbor. We need everyone to help save lives . REMEMBER—YOUR PINT CAN HELP 3 LIVES!!! ST.
