Our Mission Statement
We are a community of believers who are grateful for our diversity & mindful of our unity in Christ. Our
lives are based on faith, hope & charity through the outpouring of the Spirit, nourished by the Eucharist.
Our mission is to be communicators of God’s grace and Christ’s message to help people achieve
salvation. We seek to build a Faith Community by enriching ourselves through Word and Sacrament. Our
aim is to share our faith by teaching, personal witness and works of charity. Because we see in all people
the image of God, we seek to relieve their physical, spiritual and emotional needs by involving all age
groups within our parish.

Veterans Day
Tuesday November 11th is the day set aside to
remember those who have served in the U.S.
Armed Forces. Please remember all veterans in
your prayers; they have made a great sacrifice for
our individual and national freedoms. In
commemoration of the Holiday the Rectory will be
closed.
The Music Ministry Christmas Concert:
The Ministry in conjunction with the Federated
Church in Stephentown will be offering a special
Christmas Concert. The concert will be at ICC on
Saturday December 13th at 1:30 PM and at the
Federated Church on Sunday at 2:30 PM
Charlie’s Pantry:
With the upcoming holidays Charlie’s Pantry will
require food and monetary donations to meet the
needs of the communty. Canned goods and non
perishable items would be greatly appreciated.
Donations should be received by the 23rd of
November and will be included as part of the
offertory at mass on that day. The Pantry will take
donations at their regular scheduled hours or
donations can be dropped off at the rectory.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
In the past I have been asked about the
involvement of our elderly in the parish and
outreach to those ill and homebound. Over the
next few weeks we will begin a program I found at
St. Mary’s and address both of these needs in
some ways. The Prayer Shawl Ministry flyers
found in the back of the church describe in greater
detail the basics of this. We are looking for people
who like to knit or crochet to make shawls. We
encourage you to request shawls for those who
have chronic illness or other life changing
difficulties. St. Mary’s has already begun making
some shawls for us while we get our own group
together to continue the ministry here. Fr. John
 A sign up sheet is at the back of the church for
the Prayer shawl. You can suggest a name of
someone who should receive a shawl and you
can also sign up if you are interested in making
a shawl. (Instructions are available)
Eucharistic Liturgy for the Year of Consecrated
Life
An inaugural Mass for the Year of Consecrated
Life will be celebrated on November 20th at 7:00
PM at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception
in Albany. The Most Reverend Bishop
Scharfenberger will be the Principal Celebrant and
Homilist.
Dedication of the Lateran Basilica
Today the Church celebrates the feast of the
Dedication of the Lateran Basilica in Rome. The
Basilica of St. John Lateran is the cathedral of
Rome. This is not St. Peter's, but it is the Pope's
cathedral. It was built in the time of Constantine
and was consecrated by Pope Sylvester in 324.
This feast became a universal celebration in
honor of the basilica called "the mother and
mistress of all churches of Rome and the world".

What is Veterans Day
Many people confuse
Memorial Day and Veterans
Day. While both days honor
veterans there is a great
difference. Memorial Day is a
day for remembering and
honoring military personnel who died in the
service of their country, particularly those who
died in battle or as a result of wounds sustained in
battle. Veterans Day is the day set aside to thank
and honor ALL those who served honorably in the
military - in wartime or peacetime. Certainly we still
remember those who died in service but Veterans
Day is largely intended to thank Living Veterans
for their service, to acknowledge that their
contributions to our national security are
appreciated, and to underscore the fact that all
those who served - not only those who died - have
sacrificed and done their duty. This is especially
true for those who did not get the welcome home
that so many of our service personnel get today.
