Al Takatsch has graciously volunteered to repeat his demonstration bench setup in the
mart room for our Westchester members. There was standing room only at his
presentation at our September meeting in East Meadow.
He will talk about how simple techniques can add up to a complex clock repair. He will
be showing, replacing pivots, bushing work by hand replacing brass and wooden wheel
teeth and more if time allows.
Al has produced 21 clock repair videos and taught clock repair classes for the
Horological Association of Maryland for which he was presented with a Life
Membership. At his clock shop in Queens, he services clocks for contract work and
local customers, as well as teaching clock repair techniques.
Please plan to spend some time at Al’s table in the mart room. You may learn some
new tricks of the trade.

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
NEW LOCATION!
NEW LOCATION!
NEW LOCATION!
Dear Members,
Vice President
POSITION AVAILABLE
This is our first meeting of the season in Westchester at a new location. We have
our own longtime loyal member, Jack Ross, to thank for finding this space which
is the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle, 116 Guion Place, New Rochelle, NY
10801. Directions are on the back. Jack spent a great deal of time and looked at
many places. Finally, this facility met all our criteria. When you see Jack please
be sure to thank him for this great find. This new facility has a gym with good
lighting and a huge parking lot. As you may know, the Good Counsel Campus
has been sold and our time there was on a meeting to meeting basis.

POSITION AVAILABLE
Our September meeting at the Temple was a success. We had a large turnout
with many tables filled with loads of horological items and lots of activity. In the
mart room Al Takatsch did a continuous presentation which was very popular, as
many gathered to watch his demonstration. Everyone commented how helpful,
interesting and knowledgeable Al is. In fact Al has graciously offered to do a
similar work shop demonstration at this meeting in New Rochelle.
Chapter 2 is continuing to celebrate its 70th Anniversary. Every paid up member
who attends this meeting will receive a tote bag for this special occasion (if you
did not receive a bag at the Temple).
If there is a yellow dues card in with this notice, it means your dues for 2014-2015
are NOT paid. So please, continue to support your chapter and mail your check
in the enclosed envelope by November 15th. Also note that dues have been
increased slightly ($9.00) to cover the rising costs of printing, postage, location
rent, cost of tables and food for the breakfast buffet that everyone enjoys.
Please note: if you plan on selling watches or clocks at the meeting you must
purchase a table. No sales will be allowed from the floor. Be sure to mail in early
as tables need to be rented and they most likely will not be available at the door.
A sincere thank you to all who volunteer, continue to support the Chapter, pay
their dues and attend our meetings.
Hope to see you all there.
Regards,
Lu Sadowski, President
