V mart is in operations since 2004 and operates 70 stores in 25 cities across the country with larger part in the North and West India. It operates a chain of mid-size hypermarket value retail stores ranging from 6000-12000 sq ft. Its specific focus is on Tier II/ III cities. It covers 250,000 sq. ft. retail space. It plans to open stores ranging from 8,000-12,000 sq. ft. The company recently launched V Galz stores, a fashion studio for ladies garments and accessories. V Galz aims to cater to fashion conscious new generation by offering them western wear at affordable prices. We have decided to implement in phase. The first phase involved blueprinting existing processes and mapping them to the desired state. In this phase, the entire project team worked on current processes within the structure of the organization, analyzed and drafted them. This blueprint was later used in the formation of new states of the solution. In the next phase we have mapped the process with GINESYS by doing some BPR(Business process reengineering) and started the piloting. After a successful parallel run we made the project live. V mart was having a plan of opening stores in the metros and there was an urgent need for a reliable enterprise wide application to help run its business effectively. The company was looking for a solution that would bring all of its businesses and processes together. After a comprehensive evaluation of different options and software companies, the management at V Mart decided to go in for GINESYS. Right form inception now the total V Mart business operation is on GINESYS. Upcoming projects at V Mart After the successful implementation of GINESYS for its retail business, Vmart plans to go ahead with IT projects like Merchandise Assorted planning and CRP (Centralized Replenishment Planning). GSL is now developing a tool for calculating OTB (Open to buy) for apparel section based on sales trend and sales forecasting and min-max level .We are also considering the Industry standard while designing the tool.
