MEMORANDUM Sudan Shriners TO: Potentate, Divan, Past Potentates, Uniform Units, Directory Staff, Ceremonial Staff, Trustees and other Interested Nobles FROM: Frank Long, Director DATE: November 4, 2014 SUBJECT: Fall Ceremonial, Parade and General Information November 14 – 15, 2014 Dear Nobles: Attached is the Schedule of Events for our Fall Ceremonial in Smithfield, along with a Parade line-up. The Candidates Committee and Medical Staff should report to the Smithfield Selma High School, 700 Booker Dairy Road, Smithfield for novice registration. The Ceremonial Cast should report to the Smithfield Selma High School for the First Section, which commences at 9:00 am. The Provost Guard will furnish four (4) men to assist with handling of Candidates and will report to Noble C. J. McQueen, Director of Candidates by 7:00 am at Smithfield Selma High School. The Provost Guard will police the Business Meeting, First and Second Section. They are to be on hand to attend the doors at least 30 minutes prior to scheduled events to check 2014 Members dues cards. Uniform Units will not have any special duties to perform at the Business Meeting, except for Patrol’s Color Guard to present colors and Provost Guard will provide security as outlined above. All Nobles are urged to attend the Stated Business Meeting on Saturday at 8:00 am at the Smithfield Selma High School. Parade------Uniform Units can start lining up at 10:00 on South 6th Street, Smithfield, it steps off at 11:00 am. The actual route will travel down South 6th Street, turn left on Market St., turning on South 2nd St. Staging area will be on Maffey St., Johnston St. and Church St., come in S. Bright Leaf Blvd. Unit Heads, would you please review with your members ARTICLE IV – DISCIPLINE Section 5 #2 about drinking ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES, before or during a PARADE. In accordance with the Board of Directors of Sudan, the following Guidelines are in effect with regards to all Shrine Parades. No Trailers Participate In Parades. Moslem Feast/Chef Crew - The Moslem Feast immediately follows the parade and is held at the Smithfield Selma High School. All Nobles and Ladies are invited to attend. Candidates, Divan, Past Potentates, Distinguished Guests and Uniform Unit members who have a part in the Second Section may go to head of the serving line, to ensure that they have sufficient time to report for opening of Second Section. The Second Section is to be held at the Smithfield Selma High School at 1:00 pm. The Wrecking Crew Director is requested to submit list descriptions of stunts for approval to Illustrious Sir Rick Jackson and Director Frank Long with a copy to Recorder George Raecher 15 days prior to ceremonial. On Saturday night at “The Farm”, 215 Batten Rd., Selma, we will have an Introduction of Ceremonial Committee, Fez & Rose Presentation, Patient Introductions, Check Presentations, Raffle Drawings & Potentates Remarks. The Camel Drivers may set up their Jewelry / Merchandise. Each Uniform Unit Head is requested to check each member of his Unit to be sure they have a 2014 dues card. If any one has any questions, do not hesitate to call the office or me. As always, your help is greatly appreciated.
