The Vine November 2014 On the Calendar
The Vine
Rooted in Christ.
Growing in Christ.
Fruitful in Christ.
Hello, my dear church family! I want to thank you so much for all the cards, gifts, and
encouragement you gave to me and your pastoral staff this past month in honor of Pastor
Appreciation Month. What a huge blessing that is, and it means more than you know. When a
church encourages and prays for its staff, it creates a synergy that really fuels the church in a
powerful way. And speaking of staff, we have two committees working very hard as we prepare to
add two more staff to the fold: a Next Generation Pastor and an Executive Pastor. I am buckling
up for what God is preparing to do in and through The Grove like never before, and I am excited we
all get to be a part of it together. We exist to do whatever it takes to introduce everyone to Jesus
Christ and to worship, serve, and grow together. We were created for this. We were saved for this.
Now let’s do this! It’s been an awesome autumn so far as we are winding down our “Overwhelmed”
study. But it’s only the beginning. We have many mission projects this month, from the Operation
Christmas Child boxes to the Thanksgiving Dinner Giveaway. Let’s keep our eyes on Jesus and
keep running the race for Him, and let’s do it together as we let Him shine His light through us in
this community and the world. I am honored to be your pastor and your fellow running partner in
this awesome race. Let’s do this!
With love from your pastor,
Bill Clark
The Thanksgiving season is a very busy time of year for our church and for our Helping Hands
Ministry. Our church and volunteers stay very busy collecting and distributing food for people
that are less fortunate in our community. There are many different ways that you can help. Each
event is outlined below, if you have any questions you can ask Pennie Grubbs or call the church
offices.
On Sunday, November 2nd, you can being signing
up to prepare a food item or help serve
Thanksgiving dinner to the 100 guest of the MAC
Center in Covington. All food donations will need
to be at HGBC no later than 4:30 p.m on
Thursday, November 20th. Dinner will be served
at 6:00 p.m. More details will follow as we get
closer to serving the meal, but you can sign up
now at the Welcome Center.
We will be distributing full bags of food with all
the fixins’ for a complete Thanksgiving meal to
the residents of the Richwood Villa Mobile Home
Park. We will meet at church on November 22nd
at 9:00 a.m., have a quick breakfast of donuts &
coffee, have prayer, then carpool over to where
the bags will be distributed. No sign ups are
necessary, just meet at the church .
On Sunday, November 30th, Pennie Grubbs will be at the
Welcome Center with Christmas gift tags for a child that
is less fortunate. If you would like to purchase a gift for a
child(ren) simply stop at the Welcome Center, give
Pennie your contact info and she will give you a tag with
a small wish list item for a child. All gifts need returned to
the church by December 14th.
As you can see we are gearing up for some fantastic ways to minister to those around us during
the upcoming holidays. We hope you plan to be a part of it!

Place your shoe boxes in the vestibule
no later than November 16th
A shoebox filled with small toys, hygiene items and
school supplies tangibly demonstrates God’s love to a
child in need. A small shoebox can have a big impact.
What goes into the box is fun, but what comes out of it
is eternal. Be a part of changing children's lives all
over the world in Jesus' Name through the power of a
simple gift with Operation Christmas Child. More
information about this ministry and gift tags can be
found in the vestibule.
