A big thank you to all the families and friends that joined us for
“Walk to School” and helped out with the Super FunD Run. There
were over 100 walkers, a school record! We cannot do these fun
things without YOU! There will be more opportunities to volunteer J Jump Rope for Heart, last Friday in February and Olympic Day in the spring.
Thank you Mrs. Homburger for volunteering to enter points. The
response for bringing in points has been great so we may need a
few more volunteers! Please continue to collect “Coke Points”
from cases,12 packs and caps from Coke products including
PowerAde. Mrs. Wall and I use to the points to buy materials for
our classes. Please
contact Mrs. McDonald if you can help.

A Message from Our Principal
Greetings Richland Champions!
This school year is flying! We are now well into the 2nd nine-weeks!
Our Super Fun(d) Run was a huge success! I would personally like to thank our PTO president, Kristen Milenkovitch, and all of our parent volunteers that made this event possible. Further, I would like to thank all of
the parents and friends of our Richland Champions that donated to this cause. With the funds we raised we
will be purchasing educational programs such as Ticket-to-Read and V-Math Live, and we will also purchase a
SMART Table that students will be able to utilize. Lastly, we will purchase additional playground equipment!
All of these items were recommended needs as a part of our Strategic Plan.
We have heard your requests and have responded with the addition of a Google calendar to our website! It is
located under the events page. You can synchronize events that are planned at our school to your
Smartphone.
Unfortunately, it’s that time of the year when students are getting sick and some have shown symptoms of
the flu virus, which include fever, vomiting, headache, and fatigue. We are taking steps to help decrease the
spread of flu. Parents of any student showing flu-like symptoms will be contacted to retrieve their child from
school. Children showing any flu-like symptom should not be sent to school and should remain home at least 24
hours after a fever is gone without the use of fever-reducing medication.
Congratulations to our Teacher of the Year! Mrs. Brandy Wynn! Thank you for all that you do to make Richland Elementary special. You are a true Champion!
Lastly, just as an FYI…

The Scholastic Book fair will be arriving at RES the week of November 10th. It will be set up for a
(teacher) sneak peak on Friday, November 14th with shopping officially starting on Monday, November
17th and continuing through the
week. During the Grandparent
Thanksgiving lunches, book fair access will be reserved for our
guests. Each class will have a set
shopping day and time for the students, with parents welcome to
come at any time school is in session. This is a great time to stock
up on gifts as well as holiday reading material. We hope to see everyone during the Fall 2014 Book Fair!
The 2014 RES Fun(d) Run was a huge success. Although we are saving all of the final results for our BIG
REVEAL pep rally on November 7th, we did want to take an opportunity to thank all of this year’s generous
business sponsors. If you know someone associated with any of this businesses, please take a moment to
thank them for their support. There are so many wonderful causes in our community that need business
funding, and we are really honored that these companies are investing in our children.
