VACANCY NOTICE
Paraprofessional II-ISS
Heritage High School
Qualifications include: Must have completed at least 2 years of study at a college or technical college; or
obtained an associate’s degree; or must have passed the GA-required Paraprofessional test.; general computer
proficiency; the ability to work under minimal supervision; the ability to work effectively with teachers, school staff;
and the ability to work effectively in the classroom setting with students.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of and be able to use appropriate behavior management techniques to
maintain an effective classroom environment; will have excellent verbal, interpersonal and organizational skills; be
able to work with diverse learners in a classroom setting; be able to assist the teachers in reinforcing materials and
concepts; and be able to assist in creating a positive learning environment.
Responsibilities include supervising and working with students who have received an in-school suspension or who
have been sent to the ISS Room by an administrator or designee; assisting students with work assignments sent by
classroom teachers; ensuring the assignments are completed and submitted to the appropriate teacher(s); entering
student discipline information in School Max; and maintaining required record keeping for the ISS program.
Physical Demands – Must be able to stand and walk the majority of the day; lift and carry twenty (20) to thirty (30)
pounds frequently, and up to sixty (60) pounds occasionally; push or pull same amount frequently. Job may also
require frequent bending, stooping, and crawling.
This is a full time position. Salary is based on experience and a Grade 3 of the Classified Salary Schedule of
the Rockdale County Public Schools. Employment benefits are as uniformly provided for all full-time employees
of the school system.
