the tradition of improving education, housing situations, and economic development, CCHD continues to make a positive impact in
communities nationwide. Your contribution will defend human dignity and help those living on the margins of our society.

the Bakersfield community. Thank you so very much.
RIGHT-TO-LIFE ROSARY led by the Knights of Columbus is Thursday, November 20, 2014 in the Chapel. All are invited!

4 STAGES OF MARRIAGE– The 4 stages of marriage are: (1) Romance, (2) Disillusionment, (3) Misery, and (4) Awakening. Many
marriages experience the first 3 Stages. Marriages that end in divorce never make it to the 4th Stage of Awakening. Don’t give up
without learning about the 4th Stage of Awakening. If your marriage suffers from Disillusionment or Misery please contact
Retrouvaille (pronounced retro-vi with a long i). For confidential information about or to register for the January program in
Bakersfield beginning with a weekend on Jan. 16-18 call 661-747-2212 or email: Bakersfield@RetroCA.com or visit the web site at

SUPPORT THE BAKERSFIELD WREATH PROJECT—100% of the dollars raised through this fundraising campaign stay here to
pay for a Christmas wreath to be placed on every one of the 4,000 gravesites at the Bakersfield National Cemetery on the
second Saturday of December. Wreaths cost just $15 and are delivered directly to the cemetery. Call the church office for
information or go to www.bakersfieldwreathproject.org. The wreath laying ceremony will take place at 8:30 a.m. on
Saturday, December 13 at the Bakersfield National Cemetery. Monsignor himself blesses the wreaths and gives the
invocation and benediction.
WHO ARE THE CARMELITES?
Are you called? Aspirant Program 2015-2016
Do you desire to learn and experience a deeper spirituality? The mystical tradition in the Catholic Church, inspired by
St. Teresa of Avila, St. John of the Cross and St. Therese of Lisieux, explains how to live in a closer relationship with the living
Christ and the practical caring for others that flows from that relationship.
We are the Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites (OCDS), men and women committed to living the fullness of God’s
love through prayer and scripture, with the aid of Our Lady. The Maria, Mater Et Regina Carmeli Bakersfield Community meets
every third Sunday at Christ the King Church. Come see what the Secular Order is all about.
You may contact Ginny Morton, Director of Formation at 706-3212 or Shirley Puccinelli, at 301-3679 by Jan. 4, 2015.

REDISCOVERING THE FAITH
Welcome. Have you been away from the Church? Are you thinking about coming back? Do you know someone who wants to come home
to the Catholic Church, but is struggling with their faith? Maybe you or someone you know has experienced one of these thoughts:
I grew up Catholic, but for some reason I just sort of stopped going to Church…
I just moved to a new city, I tried going to a couple different parishes, but I never really felt welcomed...
After my marriage ended, I felt uncomfortable around my family, friends and parish…
I just don't understand why the Church teaches what it does! Some teachings seem so outdated…
I tried to contact my parish about getting married but no one got back to me…
If you have experienced one of these situations or thoughts you are not alone. The Church wants you to know that you are a child of
God, called by name, precious in his eyes and loved by him (Is. 43:1,4). The Church also wants you to know that you are missed. When
one member of the Body of Christ suffers, the entire Body of the Church suffers.
The United States Conference of Catholic Bishop’s (USCCB) website contains resources to help you rediscover the faith and answer
questions about the Church and Church teachings. We invite you to explore this site and contact your local parish. Go to http://
usccb.org/beliefs-and-teachings/how-we-teach/new-evangelization/rediscovering-the-faith.
