Smoky Lake County is recruiting for the following position: Legislative Services Clerk LEGISLATIVE SERVICES Located just over an hour north-east of Edmonton in Alberta’s Lakeland, our progressive County of over 2500 residents features great opportunities for development, recreation, agriculture and affordable country living. RESPONSIBILITIES: Serve as recording secretary at meetings; Oversee the County’s RiskPro Jubilee Insurance Program; Prepare correspondence as required from meetings; Assist with agenda package preparation and distribution for meetings; Records management; Prepare and update actions list as required; Maintain an up-to-date listing of Council appointments; Coordinates all delegations to County Council meetings; Assist with Municipal Elections as required; Proofread for accuracy Request For Decisions for Council agenda packages. QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in municipal government setting; Business Diploma or Degree in Administration is an asset; Knowledge of relevant provincial and municipal legislation; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint); Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision to complete projects or tasks; Must be willing to work extended hours as needed to attend meetings; Demonstrate good interpersonal and leadership skills to work within a team environment; Possession of a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
