Discipleship: Following The Way Of The Lord Jesus
From Father Jim: Jesus’ story of the Last Judgment tells us of our duty
and responsibilities toward the least of our brothers and sisters. Unhappily, it is most
of God’s children and our brethren, not the least of them, who are hungry, naked, thirsty
sick, and imprisoned. They are the majority of people in the world, representing
somewhere between one-half and two-thirds of God’s children.
What does Jesus have to say about our position in life among the “haves” when
there are so many “have-not’s”? What are our attitudes about the desperate in this world?
Can we as Christians close our hearts to them? Surely we cannot!
To claim Christ as King, to call ourselves Christian, demands a clear and conscious
decision by each one of us to be good stewards of God’s many gifts. We are to conserve,
protect, and husband the resources of his world as a beginning, but our Christian
responsibility calls us to minister to all peoples, and dare not ignore “these least ones.”
WE
WELCOME: Brennan Mark Podlesny,
Son of Mark & Rebecca Podlesny, through the Sacrament of
Baptism during Mass today. May he grow strong in God’s love.
Thanksgiving Eve, Nov 26, all are invited to give thanks for God’s many blessings at the
Community Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service at the First UMC on Birch St at 7:00 pm.
MASS on Thanksgiving Day will be at 9:00am. There will be no Mass on Friday
morning on Nov 28. The Adoration Chapel will close with Mass on Thanksgiving until after
the 10:30 Mass on Sunday, Nov 30, so adorers may be with their families.
THE MATTHEW 25 COLLECTION: allows the Church to address the basic needs of
food, shelter and clothing on a local level through food banks, soup kitchens and other parishsupported projects that assist those in need. All of the funds collected benefit local needs. 75% of
the monies collected will be distributed to programs within the diocese to address the needs of the
poor; 25% of the monies will be returned to the parishes for their use in assisting others. Please
donate generously to this Second Collection today.
For DAILY MASS & Adoration: Please use the school reports on radio & TV
as their guide to know whether to come to church on weekday mornings: If the
schools cancel or delay classes in Palmyra, then it is too bad for you to walk or
drive. Always be aware of the weather when deciding to come to Mass.
New Beginnings Luncheon: Have you lost a loved one and feel alone?
Would you like to spend time with others for support, sharing and friendship?
Our Bereavement Committee “New Beginnings” will host a monthly luncheon at
Hometown Restaurant in Palmyra on Saturday, December 6 at 11am. Join us!
Contact Janet Binner, 838-1784, if you plan to attend.
FROM THE ADORATION CHAPEL– This week we as a nation celebrate Thanksgiving. It is a day for all to give thanks to God for all of the blessings
we enjoy in this great country of ours. Many of us will attend mass or attend other
celebrations to commemorate this blessed day. Every one will in some way or another say a blessing before partaking of the Thanksgiving meal. What better way to
express thanks than to do it personally before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Visit
Jesus in our Adoration Chapel and consider joining us as a regular adorer.
Call Bart Kaminski 838-3369, x3. God Bless!

Our Youth Group is looking for a drum set to be donated to our YOUTH MASS.
Today’s bands all start with a Guitar and/or a drum set or a piano. We have
the other instruments, but if we want to continue our special MASS for the youth
of our Community, a drum set is an integral part. Their music sounds so
much better with a beat! Please contact Kris Simon at kdzambotti@yahoo.com.
IT’S NOT TOO LATE to request a special remembrance for your departed
loved ones for the November All Souls memorial. Please write the names
of your loved ones on the All Souls envelopes and return them in the offering basket .
This weekend, we will be in the Narthex with the Candle and Altar Flower
memorials for the year 2015. If you would like to remember loved ones with
a Tabernacle or Adoration Candle ($10) or Altar Flowers ($35), please stop
by the Narthex to do so. Also, the 2015 Mass book will be available and we will
be scheduling Masses for the first 6 months of 2015.
Parishioners bring Communion to those who are able to receive, but unable to attend Mass.
PLEASE REMEMBER: hospitals are no longer permitted to give out the names of those
hospitalized, or their condition. PLEASE CALL FATHER JIM, or the Parish Office,
whenever a parishioner is hospitalized, or if you know of someone who needs a visit, or
Anointing, or if you would like to become a minister of Holy Communion to the sick.
