The Program
• Work as part of the nursing team
• Under the direction and supervision of the
educator and preceptor
• RN role as per position description
• No fee for program, unpaid positions
• Induction and 3 study days
• Clinical assessments in placement
• Case Study Presentation

• Professional Issues
– Accountability, Scope of Practice, Delegation & Supervision,
Teamwork, Accreditation, Advocacy
• Patient Safety
– Behaviours of concern, delirium, dementia, pressure ulcer prevention,
falls management, customer service, complaints, Medication safety,
Blood products, Clinical assessment
• Clinical SIM Learning – Deteriorating Patient
- Assessment, MET Call, escalation, advocacy, Code Blue, after care
Clinical Placement
• Acute wards, Monday – Friday
• Morning and afternoon shifts
• Maroondah - Medical/Surgical
• Box Hill - Medical/Surgical

Commences 23 February 2015
Full time = 6 weeks (in one block)
4 days per week = 7 weeks
3 days per week = 8 weeks
Induction/orientation week 1, plus 3 study days
Acute Clinical placement on ward
Clinical assessments, competencies
Theory and practical skills

• Ward work – weekly hours/study days

Selection Criteria

You must have condition free RN registration
Previous experience – not newly registered
Acute experience advantageous
You must have the right to live and work in Australia
Citizenship or permanent residency
National Police Check / Criminal History screening
You must meet the required level of English
language – written and spoken
• Basic computer skills for study
Things to consider….
• You must be committed to the program of work
and study and meet the eligibility criteria
• Acute wards can be very busy, demanding and
high stress environments
• Think about heavy manual work, shift work
• You must have a professional, dedicated attitude
• Parking is not available on site
• This is not a formal pathway to an ongoing

When will I hear?
• Shortlisted applicants will be invited for interview
in December 2014
• Police checks need to be cleared
• Attend Interview day
• Group activity and one to one discussions
• Staff from EH Education and wards
• Successful applicants will be offered positions
before Christmas
• Program commences 23 February 2015
