Hong Kong Juniors Chess Championships 2014
Age Groups: U7, U9, U11, U13, U17
Organised by Hong Kong Juniors Chess Club & Sponsored by Creative Secondary School
The Hong Kong Juniors Chess Championships 2014 will take place on November 29 & 30, 2014.
Type of tournament
There will be five age groups, Under 7 (born on or after 1st January 2007), Under 9 (born on or after 1st
January 2005), Under 11 (born on or after 1st January 2003), Under 13 (born on or after 1st January 2001),
Under 17 (born on or after 1st January 1997).
There will be 7 rounds, using the Swiss system. The time limits (each player) per game will be 1 hour for the
age groups U13 and U17; 25 minutes for the age group U9 and U11; 10 minutes for the age group U7.
Each player in the age groups U13 and U17 competition will be required to keep the score of his or her games
until his/her clock has less than 5 minutes, using algebraic notation, on official score sheets which will be
provided.

Age group U7 from 1:00pm to 5:30 pm
Venue:
2nd Floor Balcony for Age Groups U17 & U13; Lower Ground Floor Hall for Age Groups: U11, U9,
U7; Creative Secondary School, 3 Pung Loi Road, Tseung Kwan O, Sai Kung, Hong Kong, about 10
minutes walk from Tseung Kwan O MTR station.
Prize:
Medals for the top six players in each age group if there are more than 20 entries. Otherwise medals
for the top three only.
Entry fee:
$200.
Certificate:
Certificate showing the performance rating in the tournament will be issued by post SUBJECT to
payment of $50 at time of registration.
Registration: Registration must be made on-line at www.hkjuniorchess.org, and the registration will be closed by
end of 19 November 2014. Late entry or walk-in will not be considered. Payment is also to be made
on-line. Once registration is completed with payment made, Paypal® will send you a receipt by email,
which will serve as confirmation of your registration. No refund for withdrawal after registration. If
you do not receive the receipt, it is very likely that your registration has been unsuccessful or you
have provided a wrong email address and you should check your credit card. Please bring along a
copy of the receipt in case verification is required. The player list will be automatically uploaded on
Hong Kong Juniors Chess Club website www.hkjuniorchess.org once your registration (together with
payment) is successful.
Lunch:
There will be a short break for lunch at about 1:00pm on each playing day. Please bring your lunch
and drinks. No restaurant nearby. No food and drink other than water is permitted inside the
tournament room.
Note: (1) The HK Juniors Chess Club would support all winners to represent HK in the corresponding junior
international events. Places for free boarding and lodging may be available in these events. You may find
out the events details on website: www.fide.com. If anyone would like to participate in these international
events, please send email to Ms. Ho Yin Ping (hoyinpingchess@gmail.com) four weeks before close of
entry set by the host.
(2) The final result and photographs of the tournament will also be uploaded on the Hong Kong Juniors Chess
Club website.
