LIMAVADY PARISH BULLETIN
LIMAVADY PARISH BULLETIN YEAR OF PRAYER FOR CONSECRATED LIFE Pope Francis has inaugurated a special Year of Prayer for Consecrated Life beginning this Sunday, the First Sunday in Advent and will conclude on the Feast of the Presentation on 2 February 2016. Bishop Donal invites the people of the Diocese to join in this worldwide prayer intention and to contribute to a diocesan network of prayer for vocations to the Consecrated Life and to Priesthood. At Masses, the Bishop has asked us to pray the Diocesan Prayer for the Year of Consecrated Life and we are also asked to pray the Angelus once a day. The Diocese is grateful for the fidelity and witness of the religious women and men who contribute to the Church in so many ways. The diocese also holds in high regard, the many families of faith who have supported a sister, a brother, an aunt, an uncle, a daughter, a son in their commitment to the vowed life. In the Diocese of Derry there are different forms of Consecrated Life being lived by committed women and men; Good Shepherd Sisters, Loreto Sisters, Sister of the Holy Family of Bordeaux, Sisters of Mercy, Sisters of Nazareth, Christian Brothers, Order of Discalced Carmelites, Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, Order of Virgins. Please remember in your prayers native women and men of the Diocese of Derry who are ministering in every corner of the world. May our prayers during this year bear fruit as we ask the Lord of the Harvest to send more labourers to work for the coming of the kingdom. Diocesan Prayer for Year of Consecrated Life God our Creator and Guide, You call us out of darkness into your wonderful light, making us a Royal Priesthood, a Holy People, set apart to sing Your praises. May our families and parishes continue to nourish the seeds of vocation to the Consecrated Life and the Priesthood. And may all who have already responded to this call, like Mary, live with openness of heart, to treasure Your presence, to ponder Your actions, so that all may joyfully proclaim Your goodness now and always. 1st Sunday of Advent 30 November 2014 __________________________________________________ ST. VINCENT de PAUL ANNUAL COLLECTION Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th December Once again we ask for your support for our Annual Collection which will be held next weekend after all the Masses in the Parish. The support you so willingly give, week after week, helps families and individuals who are struggling to keep their homes warm, put food on the table, afford basic health or school costs or even their rent. Last Christmas our Conference spent £6100 helping people in the Aghanloo, Ballykelly and Limavady community. Over this period we assisted 226 families and individuals with fuel, food hampers and cash. Our joint Toy appeal with the Salvation Army provided toys for over 186 children in 79 families. We expect to spend this and more by the end of 2014 and into 2015. Without you, we simply would not be able to help our needy families. Any donation you can give will be gratefully appreciated and will make a big difference to those who need it most in our community. If you would like to give by Standing Order or if you wish to Gift Aid your donation we have forms available. Please contact any member of the Society. We also wish to thank those friends of our Conference who assist us with the church door collections throughout the year. Thank you and have a peaceful Christmas. _____________________________________________________________________________ Amen. A LETTER OF THANKS Dear Mgr McCanny On behalf of all the Holy Rosary Sisters, and, in particular, our Sisters in West Africa who are fighting the terrible scourge of Ebola at this time, I wish to thank you and your Parish Community very sincerely for your most generous contribution received from your Famine Fund. No words can convey what this gift means to our Sisters in Liberia and I can assure you that they will use it well. Thank God, our Sisters continue to be close to the people and are doing whatever they can, with the help of so many other volunteers, to reach out to those living in fear and desperation as so many of their loved ones are taken from them, and try to provide for their basic needs. May God reward and bless you and all your good people in Limavady. Hopefully later on, the Sisters who have received your gift, will be able to let you know what you enabled them to do. Your generosity will not go unrewarded. Yours sincerely in Jesus Christ. Connie Fallon MSHR The Holy Rosary Missionary Sisters, Dublin
