Come by the school office and pick up as many as you can use and help us get the word out about this upcoming event. SCA FAMILY MISSION TRIP: Rob McDonald will be leading a mission trip to Montrose, Colorado over spring break that is open to SCA families. This is the second year Mr. McDonald will have led a team to serve at Church 180 in Montrose. Bryan Lark is the pastor of this three-year-old church plant from First North. This week will be a great time of service to the Montrose community and Church 180 as well as a time of recreation and family fun. Approximate cost of the trip is $850.00 per person. CHANGE OF DATE – FINE ARTS NIGHT: The date of the SCA Fine Arts Night has been moved from May 12 to May 18. Please mark your calendar!! UPCOMING EVENTS OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD SHOEBOX COLLECTION, NOVEMBER 17-24: Our students will be collecting items to place in shoeboxes to send to Operation Christmas Child. Homeroom teachers have given you more detailed information on how their class will be preparing for their shoeboxes. http://www.scawarriors.org/events/915/operation-christmas-child - Packing your own shoeboxes as a family is optional. Consider using a plastic container instead of the regular paper OCC boxes or paper shoeboxes. The children and their families use these for a variety of needs in other countries. If you would like more information, here is their website. - The collection trucks will be at the church/school the week of November 17 - 24. You may send in shoeboxes with your child. HOME BASKETBALL GAMES BEGIN FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 21: Our basketball season begins for our JV/Varsity teams this Friday at home versus Newberry Academy. Times are 5:30 pm JV boys, 6:30 pm VR girls, 8:00 pm VR boys. Our Middle School games begin Monday, December 1 versus Fairforest Middle. Times are 4:00 pm MS girls, 5:00 pm MS boys. GO WARRIORS! THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY/EXTENDED CARE SCHEDULE: The Thanksgiving holidays will begin with an early dismissal on Tuesday, November 25, followed by no school on Wednesday-Friday, November 26-28. - Early Dismissal Schedule for Tuesday, November 25: Students will dismiss from the regular dismissal area during the nd rd th th th following times: 1:10 5K-2 , 1:20 3 -4 , 1:30 5 -12 - Extended care will be open after early dismissal on Tuesday, November 25 and also on Wednesday, November 26 by reservation only (form located at http://www.scawarriors.org/events/1024/early-dismissalthanksgiving-break). th o After Early Dismissal on Tuesday, November 25, extended care will be available for students in 3K-6 grade as long as the student is already registered to attend extended care. Study hall is not available on early dismissal days. o On Wednesday, November 26, extended care will be available by reservation only for students who are already registered and who normally attend extended care. The deadline to register for extended care will be Wednesday, November 19. Late reservations cannot be accepted. Students who attend extended care on the th 26 will need to bring lunch, a drink, and utensils. (Please do not send anything that needs to be heated or refrigerated.) th th o Extended care will be closed on Thursday, November 27 and Friday, November 28 . Happy Thanksgiving! ALL SCHOOL CHRISTMAS CHAPEL SERVICE, WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 17 AT 1:00 PM: We invite everyone to join the SCA family for this special time of worship as we celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ! The service will be in the sanctuary. We hope to see you there! GENERAL announcements EMERGENCY TEXT MESSAGING: One way SCA communicates in the event of inclement weather, school closings, or certain emergencies is by text. SCA sent a test text on Thursday, November 13. If you did not receive the text and wish to sign up to receive future texts, please email Lori Ciotta at the front desk at lciotta@fbns.org giving your permission for SCA to text your cell phone and also providing her with your cell phone number and cell phone carrier. INCLEMENT WEATHER INFORMATION: Parents, please read the inclement weather instructions carefully at this link http://www.scawarriors.org/sites/default/files/Inclement%20Weather%20Instructions%202014%2015.pdf. This information will also be accessible on our website throughout the winter months and will be sent home with students this Tuesday. o Parents of students who may ride with high school drivers, it is necessary that you complete the Inclement Weather Student Release form found at this link http://www.scawarriors.org/sites/default/files/Student%20Release%20Form%20to%20HS%20Driver.pdf. This st form must be turned in to the school office by December 1 in order for the student to be released with a student driver in the case of inclement weather and early dismissal. This includes siblings who ride with high school drivers. BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION - Box Tops for Education: What a great response! Students turned in 5,736 Box Tops so far this year! Mrs. Burdick has a sizable lead for the Donuts in December party. Our next turn in date is November 14th. (Please check your box tops for expiration dates). SANDY’S SHAVED ICE: will be for sale during lunch times each Tuesday for $2.00 each. Cash only. EXCEPTION: Sandy’s shaved ice will not be available on Tuesday, November 25. ATHLETIC ANNOUNCEMENTS SCA HOSTS IMPACT SPORTS INVITATIONAL ON NOVEMBER 24-26: Our varsity boys basketball team will participate in this year’s 8th annual Thanksgiving tournament hosting 7 area teams: Byrnes High, Greer High, Irmo High, Dorman High, Laurens High, Columbia High and Wren High.
